Fun, informal restaurant with attentive wait staff and good food.

We were in the restaurant on a Saturday night for a 6:45 reservation. It is worth noting that we had originally made the reservation for 4 and it turned out that only my wife and I could attend so we called the restaurant about an hour ahead of time to make them aware. They seemed unphased by... read more

We stopped in for a drink before dinner. Put $40 cash on the bar. Ordered 2 wines ($8 each). Waited a while and the bar tender never brought any change. Now it's not about the money. We worked in the food industry for years and we are big tippers. We intended to order another round but when she took our... More

The decor is eclectic and the atmosphere a bit frantic but the food is wonderful. The tacos al carbon are a particular favourite and the guacamole(served in a volcanic stone bowl) is unbeatable.

This is an experience not to be missed, the staff were fantastic friendly and attentive - our server was a guy called Chris who is an asset to the place. We actually didn't know what type of food was on offer when we walked in, one of our party looked at the menu and said he didn't really like Mexican... More

This is a great stop for eating on the sidewalk in good weather, but inside is just as colorful and fun. Not a fancy schmancy place. Fun with good drinks and good eats. I had a Mexican Egg dish with polenta fries...OMG on the Polenta Fries! Perfect for a family, group on a fun lunch or happy hour, or even... More

The guacamole is amongst the best out there. El Vez has a half dozen different varieties to choose from. The margaritas are also very good. The food itself I found to be slightly above average. The seabass tacos were good but incredibly small. Each taco was filled with no more than a table spoon of fish and toppings. Major disappointment.... More

Came here randomly. Good setting. Sat at bar and friendly. Had their Mexican style eggs benedict - sloppy and not great. There are much better places for brunch in Philadelphia. Won't return and not recommended.

Came here with business associates after a long day of meetings. Great food, great service, unique atmosphere. Had the guacamole 3 ways app. Fantastic! Ordered the pitcher of guava mojito - this is my new favorite drink! Ordered the black bean burrito - the burrito shell was too flimsy to eat, my only complaint of the evening.

Awesome margaritas! The margaritas are very good. They have some interesting margaritas to choose from, and they are deadly. It does not taste like there is any alcohol in them, but trust me, it is there. The guacamole is also very good. The place is huge! And can often be very busy. We had over an hour wait on a... More

After hearing coworkers talk about how good El Vez was, my expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately, I didn't find them to be that good - average, at best. I've gone back since my original visit to try another dish, and can say that my opinion hasn't changed. On top of the food being just average, prices here are extremely high... More
