Great Food

I went to El Vez for the first time with a colleague (who has been before). She recommended that we share one of the guacamoles to start. The Cesar Chavez sounded interesting, so we ordered that. I wasn't sure about the balsamic drizzle, but decided to give it a go. Wow - am I ever glad we did... read more

WOW, this was not our first choice for breakfast, however we could not find seating at our first 2 choices. Thank goodness! What a gem :-) We entered and were seated immediately. Lively setting, open, airy, cool, yummy! Bloody Marys were beautiful and everywhere so we ordered them as well...tasted as good as they looked! We had chips and salsa... More

Even on a rainy Monday, I was glad to have made a reservation. House guacamole and fresh chips and margarita were excellent. The special, shrimp ceviche, was perfectly prepared. The crispy mani-Mahdi tacos were amazing. My favorite dish was the Tres Leches dessert, garnished with mango and kiwi. I can't wait to go back.

We had been dying to give El Vez a try after hearing so much about it from friends and after seeing it on the “You’re Bacon Me Crazy” episode of Guilty Pleasures on the Food Network. El Vez is part of Philadelphia’s Stephen Starr restaurant group. We’ve eaten at other restaurants of the group’s in the past, and although we... More

Circular bar for seeing and being seen. Youthful crowd that does not mind eating within inches of those still waiting for a table. Very good tequila shots and bar drinks...margeritas top notch. Just start talking to the servers, they all love to share menu favs. I must have been impressed as I was here three times in one week due... More

We had a large group for a holiday get-together at El Vez. The drinks were good, the food was good, and for the most part the service was decent. It's definitely a place to visit. Our large group was accommodated by our reservation. Unfortunately two of the people in the group had to sit at the end of the booth... More

My family surprised me with a birthday lunch at El Vez. My wife and I have been there many times, but never with our kids and never at lunchtime. We all loved the atmosphere and it was quite busy for a mid afternoon lunch on a Saturday. We ate the chips and homemade Guacomole. Our meals included the shrimp salad,... More

We LOVE the food at El Vez. Lunch, dinner, drinks, etc - all excellent. Unfortunately, the other pains we have to endure to eat there are becoming a major hindrance. The noise and cramped tables were always an issue (earplugs are a must - do not expect to have conversation with a group), but the attitude and poor service have... More

I really enjoyed myself at the bar counter. Everyone was chatty and super attractive. The was a great eclectic mix of people, and the food was extraordinary good...which is expected from a Steven Starr restaurant. Just Awesome.

What a delightful restaurant! After viewing the Macy's light show and Dickens Village my friend and I were hungry for a little lunch. We walked down the street and google led us to El Vez. Huge inside, and full of people, laughter and friendly wait staff. The food was delicious and the service superb. I had the nachos and with... More
