Lots of fun at El Vez!

Have been to El Vez a couple of times. Food and atmosphere are great. Guacamole is awesome! The only drawback is that it's loud. Group visits might be best.

I enjoyed a business dinner here with a group of eleven. Because we were a large group, the restaurant served us family style with preselected menu. I really enjoyed the guacamole and red snapper. The chicken enchiladas lacked real flavor. The meal ended with a dessert sampler, and I thought that the chocolate tort was delightful.

In typical Steven Starr fashion this place is as much about the decor and the vibe as it is about the unusual food. Bright & fun decor/ noisy and fun at the bar/ excellent service & tasty menu! Lived the homemade guac with crabmeat & balsamic vinegar. Red snapper tacos - out if this world!

Nice little Mexican restaurant in center city. Had Guac and a pitcher of margarita. With the bill already being over $40 for the two I expected good quality eat let alone a portion to share. Pitchers of margaritas were full of ice and there might have been one shot of tequila in there. Guac was in a huge serving dish... More

This is one of my favorite places in Philly - they have amazing guacamole, and the sea bass tacos are my favorite. I have also had nachos and enchiladas and never been disappointed with anything on their menu! Fun atmosphere, great place!

We dined at El Vez this past weekend! First time there and we will definitely be back soon. The frozen blood orange margarita is the best. What a great atmosphere and friendly bar staff. We only had appetizers but will return for dinner. The guacamole and chips were the best I have ever eaten. Definitely recommend!!

Good Mexican food that leans toward Tex-Mex with some different twists. Wonderful margaritas with different flavors. Guacamole was wonderful especially the one with goat cheese and pistachios! Portions are not large, but very good. Service was slow and we had to wait a very long time for the server and was very ambivalent. Overall, good experience.

We went on a beautiful Saturday in the late afternoon and it was still happenin'. The place was loud and packed. We ordered several dishes which included Dela Hoya Guacamole, Chicken Tacos, Sea Bass Tacos and Open-faced Shrimp Quesadillas. The restaurant is known for their guacamole so you should definite order one of them. The one we ordered was awesome.... More

We had lunch at El Vez with a guest with celiac disease and who must eat gluten-free. Mexican restaurants are often quite compatible with the diet, and El Vez was no exception. Being able to eat the tortilla chips, however, is often a challenge because the cornmeal chips are fine but are usually fried in the same deep fryer as... More

After a quick train ride into Philly, my partner and I dropped our bags and headed out for what I believed to be transformative tacos. First came drinks (a Negro Modelo and a blood orange margarita). Then came guacamole (and chips). Then, pork tacos for my partner and chicken tacos for me. We snapped a few photos in the booth... More
