Solid food, good service in a local bar/restaurant.

The Standard Tap, just a little north of Center City - Philadelphia - was a solid local neighborhood bar and restaurant. Its somewhat gritty decor, completely fine and appropriate for the look of the place, was counterbalanced with excellent food choices and solid wait service. It's as far from... read more

Went for brunch recently to an old favorite, that has unfortunately went downhill! My husband and I were barely acknowledged (not busy)... Then seated in a corner not to be presented with a menu but rather to look at a board of very limited and over-priced options.... Upon poor service, we neglected to stay for brunch and left after a... More

Wife and I had a few beers and cocktails before a show at the Electric Factory. We split the eggplant dip and black bean burger. The food was great. Beer selection was good enough. Our server, bartender, seemed disinterested. That didn't take away from our experience. Great place. Nice neighborhood!

The food was great but the atmosphere also sold me on this place. Very relaxed, no pressure, friendly. I had the avocado toast with egg with a mimosa for lunch - I haven't stopped raving about the toast since. Everyone ordered something different and was very satisfied with their selections - many options. Wait staff is very personable, helpful.

Standard tap does get pretty crowded on weekends and when other things are going on in the area. Although we haven't tried their food, it smelled delicious... It's a great place to have a few beers and hang out with friends!

The Standard Tap looks like its been there forever. If you like local, this is the place. All beer is local (sorry, no national brands) and the food is from the area when possible. Portions are large and good. Staff is friendly. For three people with food and a couple drinks, you'll probably spend about $75.

This unique tavern located at 2nd and Poplar offers unique food and drink in a quaint setting. The menu, written on the chalkboard changes frequently and seasonally. On a recent night out with friends, we found much more than standard bar fare, although that is available too should you want it. Appetizers were very interesting, and the salads, including a... Stopped in today but found that they did not open until 4 pm. Thus, it was not open for lunch as advertised.

We caught this restaurant on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" in our hotel room, so ate there the next day. We arrived mid afternoon Saturday and several tables were available downstairs. The room behind the bar is naturally less noisy. Twenty Pennsylvania beers are featured, and the fare is way beyond bar food. My husband and daughter ordered their signature chicken... More

We checked out Standard Tap because we saw it on Diner, Drive-ins & Dives. Wow - what a gem. There's an upstairs where you can get reservations and a downstairs bar area that does not take them. We ate downstairs - it's noisy but fun. Menus are up on blackboards. You'll have to ask the server to describe how things... More
