Overlook the noise, the unreadable lighting and casual service but get ready for some of the most amazing food in Philadelphia. The most complex flavors come out of the kitchen. The fois gras, halibut, lobster and pork belly (to name a few favorites) are recommended. Bring that bottle of wine you have been saving. You'll not have a better chance... More

Foie gras here is among the best I have ever had - and the entrees were not only delicious but well presented. Like many of the reviewers here, I was a little disturbed by the noise and felt that I had to raise my voice the entire dinner - and I went on a Wednesday night. It was very crowded... More

This is one of those BYOs that we’ve heard about for a while but for some reason, never made our way over to this Rittenhouse-area eatery. We did on a recent night – and were glad we made the visit. Let’s get the one criticism out of the way right here at the beginning: the acoustics are bad. You almost... More

Love this place, food is always top, fresh, tasty and creative while you can bring your own wine. It also benefits from having a parking garage across the street and a wine shop two blocks away on Market street. Sorry to hear they no longer serve brunch on sundays. A must everytime I am in Philly. Only fault is the... More

I went during the late lunch hour and the restaurant was quaint and quiet. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The watermelon salad is refreshing on a hot summer day. There are a number of unique choices and daily specials. Great place for a nice sit-down lunch!

My first time there in five years was a very enjoyable experience with good food, nicely presented by quality-efficient servers for the first hour. The second hour on a Friday evening filled this small BYO with patrons who are unable to have a conversation without screaming at one another, making it virtually impossible to hear the person sitting across the... My wife and I ate dinner at Matyson for the first time this evening. We have been spending a week each year in Philly for the last 10 to 15 years, enjoying great food and experiences in the South Philly area. This year we wanted to branch out to the University City/Rittenhouse Square area. Well, Matyson was excellent on the... More

Great five-course tastings, centered around a theme on a weekly rotation. Service is always great. If some of the table doesn't want the tasting menu, they'll stage the courses appropriately.

I had another wonderful dinner at Matyson. Good service and diner selections. An interesting tasting menu on Thursday night. And the best part, BYOB! We never felt rushed. Always a great place to have a memorable meal.

My wife and I had the tasting menu on a Thursday night. The theme for the five course meal was "comfort food". The first four courses were so good, so flavorful. Unfortunately, we opted out of the menu dessert for some just OK desserts off the menu because I don't like peaches. I should have stuck with the offered menu... More
