When we travel to Philly, my sig other and I always love to come to Matyson. It's a great little restaurant in a great area, walkable to a number of hotels and Rittenhouse Square. The food is honestly delicious - we savor every bite. Compared to DC prices, at least, Matyson is a steal. I love the fact that their... More

Really thoughtful and well prepared dishes. We all had the tasting menu and were glad that they could even be a little flexible with a substitution where required. Everything was really complex, well prepared and delicious but for the dessert. The theme while we were there was Latin flavors and there was an octopus, empanada and lamb meatball dish that... More

Matyson opened around the time that I first moved to Philadelphia and it continues to be my favorite place to go for special occasions and recommend to visitors. I have never had a single bite of food there that I did not LOVE and I usually order all three courses! On top of that, its BYOB, so you get an... More

Very disappointing. Only 1 salad on the menu and personally I don't patronize establishments that serve foie-gras. Chef is trying too hard...too many ingredients in a dish.

We went to Matyson on a weekday for their recent "Seinfeld" inspired tasting menu. They have a new tasting menu every week and this was the first one that we decided was a must try. The food was great & the staff was attentive as usual. We will definitely we trying more of the tasting menus in the future.

My husband and I just ate here and I thought it was mediocre at best. The chef seems to like to use several different ingredients per dish, many of which don't seem to work together. It may be that I always prefer simple, fine, ingredients without too much fuss. However, I do appreciate a great meal. My husband loved the... More

We had one of the best meals we have ever had last night at Matyson. Each course had depths of flavor with surprising notes. I have had steak tartare all over the world and I have never had it as good as I did at Matyson. Fabulous find.

BYOB, Lively fun atmosphere and crowded. Nice pleasant servers. The food was only average-fair, so disappointed. Kale salad was good, could have used a few more slivers of parmesan. The cod was on barley and it was just slimy a very unappetizing base with pieces of fatty chewy bacon, not impressed. The fish was very salty. Scallops were good and... More

Had dinner with my son visiting from LA - He chose Matyson. He ordered the fois gras and black pasta appetizers which were extremely good. Had the pork tenderloin and the duck entrees, which were both very tasty but moderate portions. Waitress was excellent perhaps the best ever experienced (including LA and NYC). Very informative, friendly and professional. BYOB makes... More

This friendly BYO had good food, but the tastes didn't quite jell for me, and I thought that although we had a nice dinner it wasn't good enough to want to return. The foie gras was delicious. The halibut a bit overcooked and unexciting. The chicken and pork entrees both were very good. The almond tart dessert was good but... More
