I had not been to Matyson for quite a while and it was good to see it still was up to its high standards of food and service. Matyson has a small store front and it does not have many tables. The atmosphere is intimate but because of hard surfaces can be a bit noisy, although not such that you... More

Since this restaurant is listed as one of the top 50 in Philly by Zagat we decided to try it out. It is a small BYOB in the Rittenhouse Square area. The food was mediocre and very disappointing. My husband's mushroom appetizer looked and tasted weird. Three of the entrees were served in large soup bowls highlighting the fact that... More

First time visitor based on a recommendation from a friend. Had dinner with a friend who we haven't seen each other in 25 years. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, did not rush us at all. I had the Pork Belly..... AMAZING. My friend had the pumpkin cannelloni and the beet soup. She vegetarian and raved about it. No... More

My daughter lived in Philly for years, and recommended this place when I was in the city recently. She told us to make reservations at least a week in advance, and I can see why! This is an unassuming, busy little place, with a creative and tantalizing menu. It's BYOB, which also makes it quite affordable. If you're unfamiliar with... More

Lovely interior with very friendly and prompt service. Don't forget to BYOB! Must haves: -Duck ragout cavatelli. Amazing. Wish I oredered 2 and had it as an entree! -Grilled octopus app-melt-in-your-mouth. No chewy nonsense! -Beef cheeks: amazingly tender, I (literally) ate it with a spoon (so I could scoop up the sauce!) Alright: -Halibut was good but not especially memorable... More

We were pleasantly greeted. Liked the fact that it is a BYOB. Food was outstanding. The chef used seasonal ingredients. Especially liked the pitted fruit salad, yummy. The menu is not big, but the entrees are inviting. The Alaskan Halibut is excellent. The Coconut Cream Pie is a staple and it did not disappoint. The service was personable. Our waitress,... More

Unbelievable , we had visited Philidelphia recently and had researched some restaurants. Decided on Matyson. What an unexpected experience. I had the tasting menu. Duck , 5 courses for a prix fixe. My taste buds had a real treat. My husbands meal of trout was excellent also. Service and staff are top notch. Definitely worth returning even though it's over... More

It was the last Friday off of the summer and we decided to eat somewhere a foodie would go to for lunch. When we arrived with our Champaign in hand.... the upscale menu we wanted to savour was pulled pork, burgers and such. Feeling a bit misled.... our waitress went back to the kitchen and asked the chef what could... More

I'm a native Philly girl who spent 30 glorious years living in Bucks County and then was blessed to be able to escape those nasty NE winters & retire fulltime to coastal North Carolina living the good life! Having said that OMG I still so miss the Philly restaurant scene and Matyson is exactly that for both DH and I!... More

Overlook the noise, the unreadable lighting and casual service but get ready for some of the most amazing food in Philadelphia. The most complex flavors come out of the kitchen. The fois gras, halibut, lobster and pork belly (to name a few favorites) are recommended. Bring that bottle of wine you have been saving. You'll not have a better chance... More
