Chestnut Hill has two sushi restaurants - Hoka Hoka and Osaka. In general, I prefer Hoka Hoka, but occasionally meet friends at Osaka. I think the sushi is okay, average by comparison to a wide range of sushi restaurants. The service is also okay, not quite as personably and friendly as Hoka Hoka. Parking is convenient.

We have experienced sushi in Philadelphia before and have not been disappointed. The trend continues with Osaka. This restaurant has some very creative and tasty sushi preparations that we have not experienced. The service was personable and efficient without being overbearing.

Just across from the train station in the picture-perfect hamlet of Chestnut Hill, Osaka is a little Japanese jewel. Our party of 12 sat at a long table in the back of the restaurant, where service was efficient & cordial & a wide array of choices very good. The Bento box was copious & beautifully presented & along w/ a... More

Sushi Dinner in Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. Fast friendly service. Really liked the Kanpachi Carpaccio (i think, it's a fancy word for sliced yellowtail fish). Pretty pricey though, $16 for 5 super thin slices. Sushi rolls were decent, but overpriced for other similar sushi restaurants in the region. For comparison, we usually spend around $60 on sushi when my... More

Osaka is located in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia. This section of the city has a number of very good restaurants and if you like sushi, Osaka is the best in this area. The food has always been very good, they have a few beers on tap and have a bottled beer from Japan that's aged in saki casks... More

The sushi was very good, fresh and beautifully presented. Had the lobster, tiger, and special TNT rolls with salmon sashimi. Sashimi was excellent. However, dare I say the lobster roll was bland? Overall, good food, but perhaps this is better as a lunch spot as the lunch specials seem more reasonably priced than dinner. If dining as a couple, I... More

I actually don't eat sushi but still like japanese food. Great house salad and chicken teriyaki. Staff is always super friendly.

Chestnut Hill does the holiday season better than anywhere else! After a day of unique holiday shopping, nothing beats great sushi. Osaka has a creative menu - great saki offerings! - in addition to delicious and fresh sushi and sashimi. Really relaxed but attentive service - we lingered over wine and dessert with feeling rushed. For a town with limited... More

Had a wonderful dinner here on a Sunday night. Mojitos were great, soups were yummy, and sushi entrees were artfully prepared and delicious. Desserts were tempting, too (loved the salted caramel cake). The atmosphere was serene and attractive, and the service was great. Will definitely return.
