Today I took 106 students and chaperones to this restaurant and had the most amazing service and delightful Cuban food. The ambiance is nice with great background music and the decor represent Cuban culture. The food was tasty, nice selection and flavorful. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for an authentic experience.

This phenomenal restaurants ambience is so charming with it's warm antique bars and fabulous cuban courtyard. You really feel that you've been transported to Cuba. The menu offers exciting cuban fare with willing waitstaff to explain favorites and ingredients. You can have a true tapas experience or leisurely dinner. DO NOT MISS the seafood soup. It's broth is addictive as... More

We have never eaten in a better Cuban restaurant. The dishes were authentic and beautifully presented. The arroz con pollo was delicious and a large portion. The tapas allow the opportunity to try a few different dishes, I had the plantanes and meat filled croquettes. The guacamole appetizer with plantanes was exceptional. We had the trio desserts which included Cuban... More

Never having eaten in a Cuban restaurant, we chanced upon Cuba Libre during a short break in Philadelphia, and were eager to give it a go. The taster menu was excellent and the waiter (Cristian) very helpful and patient in talking us through the series of outstanding dishes he kept bringing. One of the best meals we had during our... My wife and I have enjoyed the Saturday / Sunday brunch on many occasions. Today the menu you changed and was very disappointing. the special "Raise the dead soup" was once The main reason that we went to eat there. This time the shrimp and the scallops were small and the soup was not as tasty. Very disappointing overall. Several... More

If you want a table in the area that overlooks the street, you'll need a reservation. But wherever you sit you'll get good food. My son and I got the tasting menu and many of our dishes were excellent. My only real complaint was the shrimp ceviche, which was nothing more than boiled shrimp in cocktail sauce. Everyone in our... Cuba Libre is by far, the best dining experience in Old City. We were a little skeptical about trying Cuban food, but were rewarded with the most delicious meal of our 5 day stay. Once inside the restaurant, the palm trees and rustic decor made us feel like we were in old time Havana. We were seated in wicker chairs... More

March 2010: Our family was coming through doing a New England history tour and college visits for our eldest. After being in the old town and touring all things historic, we wanted something new for lunch. Cuba Libre was our first taste of Cuban food and this was a brand new restaurant in rough-edged Philly neighborhood that was just beginning... More

We really enjoyed Cuba Libre - food was very good. We usually get the 15 taste of cuba but they don't offer that on Saturday night and we never went there on a Saturday Night before. I had the skirt steak and it was very good. Would recommend going to Cuba Libre but I would go any night but Saturday... More
