Disapointing

The food was ok, but nothing special. They claim to have Jewish-Roman kitchen, but the waiter had difficulty explaining what was Jewish about their food -- the food is typical Italian. The service was bad for a fine food restaurant at this price level. The waiter was not paying attention when... read more

I came here with my date for Valentines Day since I always wanted to try it out. They had a price fix menu which included 4 courses for $ 50 per person. The food was amazing and so was the service. The portions were generous ... The pasta course was a full size plate of homemade gnocchi. When you consider... More

Decrepit fittings and decor, waiter who pours wine as if it's a beer, correlated food and cannot make a half-decent coffee? There is so much not to like about this place that the only observation is DO NOT GO HERE. The waiter pushes the improved specials, abounds you during taking the order to do something else and refers clients to... More

I visited during Restaurant Week. The ambience is somewhat old world. Exposed brick walls and crystal chandeliers (in need of cleaning) and upholstered chairs. Cut glass partitions help divide the three tier dining room. Slightly loud operatic music added a Godfather feeling to this Italian restaurant now called Tira Misu. I felt a little rushed by the smiling and friendly... More

Il Portico has closed and is now called Tira Misu-it is under the same ownership, but the prices are much more affordable-entrees are now in the mid 20's with pastas dishes in the low teens-My husband and I shared a smoked salmon appetizer, while the other party shared the battered vegetables and salad-all were extremely pleased. Two of us had... More

The restaurant food is fantastic and the wait staff is lovely. The environment is darker, perhaps a more romantic or traditional style restaurant. I have never seen the place obnoxiously busy but don't let that fool you. The food melts in your mouth.

My husband and I went to Il Portico last Friday night for a spur of the moment dinner out. We had been there about nine months ago and he wanted to go back. We each ended up ordering the same thing as the first fime but each was so good. He had the Red Snapper and I had chicken stuffed... More

For a wonderful meal of Tuscan food in a very upscale atmosphere this is the place. This is the second time we have eaten here and both times we couldn't have been more pleased. The waite staff is very professional in the old world tradition. While not inexpensive it is worth every penny. Entrees are about $30 while appetizers and... More

wife and I last minute trip to center city for valentines day. Caesar salad / caprese salad apps - Caesar had no dressing, was dropped on table, no pepper, no anchovies. Caprese salad, mozzarella was warm and runny, tomatoes had seen better days weeks ago, then sauced terribly with watered down olive oil. Entrees were lobster fra diavolo and sautéed... More

On a recent visit to Il Portico in Philadelphia, we found ourselves in a half empty restaurant on a Saturday evening; not a good sign. We waited at least 15 minutes before our wine order was taken, and then again for our meal selections. I'm not sure having a groupon bade well for us; maybe that's why the service was... More
