For the Love of Belgian Beer!

Monk's Cafe is fantastic. Authentic Belgian experience, from the delicious frites to the amazing beer selection. Having spent some time in Belgium, it's nice to have a local place to visit often. Monk's Cafe is fantastic. Authentic Belgian experience, from the delicious frites to the amazing beer selection. Having spent some time in Belgium, it's nice to have a local place to visit often. Service is good, and whenever I get a chance I stop by. They have all the Trappists and an impressive list of domestic beers as well, they even... More

This once used to be a great place to sample Belgian brew and food. But now I find it extremely overpriced and overrated. Food is no longer great and beer is expensive. Plus they have an attitude (e.g. They won't let you sample the beer on tap or offer a sampler on the menu. You should know your Belgian brew... More

The food here is some of the best in the city but the prices are very very reasonable and honeslty they could charge 20-30% more if they wanted to. The beer selection is VERY SOLID and the rotating taps make this a much visit in the city.

What a fantastic place to indulge in great food and great beer. The large selection of beer makes it almost difficult to choose. Two of us had the Monks mussels were by far the best - and we both sucked down a pound of juicy, succulent mussels that were perfectly steamed and bathed in a broth that was delicious on... More

My wife and I have traveled all over the USA drinking beer and seeing the sights. From Maine (Great Lost Bear) to California (Russian River BC, etc.), we are trying to visit it all. Yeah, Monk's Cafe is the best bar we've ever visited. We now make the 90 mile drive to Philly several times a year to go to... More

The food and the beers were mostly great. Maybe something to blame about is that too many choices for beers made us hard to decide. The waiting time was VERY LONG. But the food and beer worth the time.

Short review. Terrible! Every Beer I ordered they did not have. Ordered their famous Mussels, half had no Mussel. Stay away from this one.

Never ending rooms came for the mussels which were outstanding. Plenty of great beer, service was fast and friendly. I was a little disappointed in the frites - small size but the mayo dipping sauce OMG good
