Normally I cringe if someone describes something as being "awesome. " but as I think of the afternoon spent drinking incredible first-rate dark beer with exceptional pub fare, I am reduced to imprecise language and the desire for more incredible beer. Monk's is the place. Go there as often as you can and stay for a long time. In other... More

This little pub is my husband's favorite place for mussels. We used to live in Philly and he has to go back there everytime we visit town. We went for an early dinner on Saturday evening. There was a wait, but we found seats at the back bar and decided to eat there. We had the Ghent mussels with bleu... More

Amazing range of beers - possibly the largest selection I've seen. Great menu - the mussels were perfect and delicious. A fun place to dine and people watch!

Stopped here after Beer Camp in Philly. Great selection of Belgium brews. Mussels were delicious and service was outstanding! Our server was very knowledgable in the beer selection and gave great recommendations! This place was packed to the brim and he was handling it with no problem!

I'm from San Diego and this does not exist where I live. This joint serves a huge, impressive list of beer list that is printed on a "Bible"! I realize now that my drink experiences pale in comparison to wide wide world that Monks exposed me to. The mussels are slurpurr-ific with some of that bread--- yum! Had the Mac... More

The bar has a very original setting with different rooms, each one with its own bar. There are not many seating places, so a reservation is recommended. The staff are polite and helpful and the food is tasty. However, the selling point of this place is the beer list which is nothing short of impressive. A huge choice, from all... More

This is a great, casual restaurant that I was dying to go to. The place is small, but has a front and back bar and dining areas in both. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the beer. He answered all of our questions. We only ordered a small pot of mussels (Brussels style- I love a solid,... More

I met my son here for lunch as a friend of his recommended. Yes, it more about the zillion different beer choices and does smell that way, but pleasantly. Dark cozy atmosphere small, but not in a crowded stuffy way. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my son ordered the grilled duck sandwich. Hmm, so being from a state... More

Great beer selection. This is down to earth casual non pretentious place. Casoulet is delicious, very generous portion. Would like to come again and try the other dishes and beers.
