Too bad I had to leave! I really enjoyed having several beers from small breweries. It was like heaven in a glass! Each beer came in its own paired glass--none of which were the standard straight-sided pints that we are used to getting. The frites were great, and kudos to the bartender for being extremely knowledgeable about each beer. For... More

Monk's has an unbelievable selection of beers, especially Belgian. The owner of the Dwight D hotel next door were I stayed recommended we go to Monk's and I am glad we did as it was a truly unique experience. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful. The beer bible is unbelievable and boasts the best selection... More

Our son had told us to go to Monk's if we had the opportunity when we were in Philadelphia, it was a go to place for him when he was there on business. We had gone to the Mummer's Parade early in the morning and just about noon we were freezing so set off to Monk's, good thing we did... More

This is the best place in Philly for beer and mussels. The beer menu is never ending and all the varieties are served in the right glass.

This place is a little slice of Belgium with and American feel in downtown Philadelphia. The imported beer selection, both taps and bottles is unsurpassed. We visited in the summer and the sour beer fest had just ended. What a treat. Top that with mounds of mussels and it was heavenly.

Stopped by around noon on a Tues and got a seat at the bar. I had seen on PhillyTapFinder that they were serving Blind Pig and was super excited to try it. The draft menu had it crossed out and I mentioned my disappointment to the bartender. She said they should be tapping another keg in the next few minutes!... More

I hadn't been to Monks for... Oh, easily 15 years, until I walked by on a recent chilly afternoon , saw it, and decided I had to go in. The place seems frozen in time: same dog-eared , thick bottled beer menu; same oaky dark environment and finest rare selection of Belgian brews on tap. They don't even have wifi.... More

Unreal beer selection, they even have a house beer brewed for them in Flanders. Food is good, definitely get the mussels.
