Sneak to the back bar.

Great food an excellent service. If it's packed, walk right past the bar to the back of the building where there is an even better bar!

Fun, lively little pub with burgers, salads, seafood. Something for everyone. I had a fresh crisp salad w/goat cheese and chicken raised in Amish country. Yum! My husband enjoyed his cheese burger w/ thin, crunchy fries.

Monks is a small center city bar/ restaurant that boasts an extensive beer list including their own sour ale made in Belgium which is really good! The place gets pretty crowded. Try to get a table in the back(church pew bench booths are pretty cool) as it's less noisy than the small stuffy front seating area and being away from... More

The bar is high for non-BYOBs in Philly, and Monk's is one of the few places to surpass that threshold. Incredible beer list, great Belgian food (not an oxymoron), and a nice, if somewhat dark, atmosphere. It can be tough to get a table, but it's worth it. Plan to sit down for a while, try some new beers, and... More

You'd possibly miss this gem of a Belgian Beer bar if you were not looking for it. This place was recommended by some friends that had been here before so we decided to check it out. Beer selection is excellent and in particular the selection of Belgian brews on tap best I've seen anywhere. Was in the mood for Belgian... More

The high ratings here are solely because of the superb beer selection. Belgian beers are the best in the world (in my opinion) and the selection here is the best I've ever experienced. Don't know what to try? Grab a La Chouffe or just ask one of the knowledgeable bartenders. With that said, this place is narrow, not family friendly,... More

A tremendous selection of beers, many flavors and styles. Along with some hard to find and unique brews from many areas around the country and the world. A charming old house conversion, may remind you of grandma's or great-grandpas home of your childhood. A front bar with tables & seating, tables in the middle, and a bar with tables in... More

We went for drinks and appetizers. They have a few beers on tap and a "Beer Bible" which contained I think 300 beers in bottles. We had flatbread and dips, frog legs, Pommes frites, and Spanish Flies (spicy wings). All were delicious. Warning the Spanish Flies are not for everyone. They are hot beyond hot but very flavorful. The only... More

read the reviews & thought this place was a worth a visit. How rong I was. Food was not very good - Service was slow. Fries was overcooked to the point of black tips. Lots of Beer choice, however expensive for the area compared to other places.

Our plane into Philadelphia was delayed and we were looking for a late meal - and a drink. Monk's Cafe was just what we needed. Vibrant bar scene, even later into the evening. Food was surprisingly good. We had two types of mussels, and were not disappointed. Portions are large. Beer selection was formidable, but staff were knowledgeable in guiding... More
