Great Place in Philly

This place is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Three different rooms, all of them meagerly decorated, but you come here for drinks and food anyway. Beer list is impressive, and food selections are spot on to go with it. Overhead music ranges from college rock to heavy rock, but it all... read more

So here's the thing about Monk's...You're gonna have to wait for a table. HOWEVER, once you GET a table, it's completely worth the wait. If you like beer (and I mean REALLY like beer) then you'll be in the right place at Monk's...Their food, though, is excellent as well (especially the grilled duck salad and the mussels). When I visited... More

This place is nothing special to look at but the beer selection is otherworldly and the food excellent! Had the Brooklyn Chocolate Stout . . . so good! For lunch had the scallop appetizer, pulled pork sandwich and fries. All were outstanding. Service was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back when in Philadelphia.

If you are craving Belgian beers in philly, Monk's is the place to go. Their selection of drafts change often and their long list of bottles is impressive. Their food is good too. My favorite is Thai curry mussels. It may sound unusual but I always feel like drinking the last bit of broth.

This place was recommended by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. Was very busy when we arrived but were promptly seated. Beer selection was amazing. We shared a few appetizers to go with our beer selections. The mussels were good but a few were a little funky. Frogs legs, fries were awesome. Wood definitely return.

A local friend recommended this place to me when I was there on a recent business trip. It was so good we went back a second night. Here's what's great about the place. First, the atmosphere. It feels like a European pub or brewhouse. Since their specialty is Belgian ales, that fits. Several rooms, cozy atmosphere, nice vibe. Second, the... More

Too bad I had to leave! I really enjoyed having several beers from small breweries. It was like heaven in a glass! Each beer came in its own paired glass--none of which were the standard straight-sided pints that we are used to getting. The frites were great, and kudos to the bartender for being extremely knowledgeable about each beer. For... More

Monk's has an unbelievable selection of beers, especially Belgian. The owner of the Dwight D hotel next door were I stayed recommended we go to Monk's and I am glad we did as it was a truly unique experience. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly and helpful. The beer bible is unbelievable and boasts the best selection... More

Our son had told us to go to Monk's if we had the opportunity when we were in Philadelphia, it was a go to place for him when he was there on business. We had gone to the Mummer's Parade early in the morning and just about noon we were freezing so set off to Monk's, good thing we did... More
