Out of all the restaurants in Philly to choose from, we decided to come to Buddakan as a graduation present for me. My parents had already been here, but I desperately wanted to try what was rumored to be the best Asian food in the city. Nothing about this place disappointed. We made a 5:00 reservation on a Saturday night,... More

Buddakan was suggested as a great place near Center City to have a nice dinner. We loved the Asian influence contemporary décor and the drinks were good. The asian fusion cusine was pretty nice. I had a teriyaki salmon with white fish and wasabi sauce that was outstanding, but the Pad Thai dish was unremarkable. Service was just acceptable. We... More

First of all, giant Budda! Set into a glowing red stage, very dramatic. Dim lighting, candles on tables. House salad delish, dim sum sampler excellent except for weird mush filled packet. The sauce was amazing! Hot and sour scallops for dinner--4 large scallops incredible! 5 out of 5. Veggie fried rice great but coconut foam was weird. Wok cashew chicken-excellent... More

I expected a traditional Chinese restaurant. This is an upscale casual chic restaurant. Some might call it a Chinese fusion restaurant. Interior has low lights, staff dressed in all black, only candles on the tables. There is a continuous background music that seemed too load forcing patrons to talk louder above the noise. There is no separation between the bar... More

Had dinner here on a Friday night. We came early and had drinks at the bar. Bar is not large but drinks were good except for the beer selection. Were seated on time and started with the chicken and ginger dumplings. They were delicious but portions are small so I would not recommend sharting. For my entree I had the Dungeness... More

Visited there while sightseeing in Old City. Lunch was fabulous, especially the crab fried rice, which was served in a real crab shell.

Best fish (Chilean Sea Bass) I have ever had, bar none! Cooked to perfection. Waitress suggested one of their cocktails called a 'Jade'. It had gin, cucumber flavor, melon and other indredients. I said I was not a big fan of gin. She said if I did not like it I did not have to pay for it and I... More

Buddakan calls their food "modern Asian." I would add really, really good modern Asian. My wife and I wanted a nice dinner in Philadelphia to switch from all of the Philly steak sandwiches. Buddakan delivered. The pad Thai, pepper steak, and curry cauliflower were all excellent. Our server was happy, helpful and efficient. The decor was modern with one giant... More

We have eaten at the Buddakan in Atlantic City before. Our daughter made reservations for us to eat here our first night in Philly. The food is fantastic. The waiter was excellent. His recommendations were right on on. We had edamame dumplings and spicy rock shrimp as appetizers. We had Sizzling short ribs and barbeque pork as our entrees. The... More

What an experience! When you walk in you are met with a beautiful waterfall. As you turn into the dining room on the far wall sits a large Buddha. Ambience is lovely. Awesome menu. The Asian Caesar salad with spiced cashews was excellent as was the spare ribs. Service was very good.
