Great food, but lost liquor license

We've been going to Ms. Tootsie's for years, and always loved the experience. Food has always been exceptional, and the atmosphere is inviting and friendly. When the Skybar is open, it's a very cool place to have a drink upstairs. We went in on Friday night, and it was a ghost town. Sat at the... read more

Went with a group, the music and overall atmosphere was very relaxing. The wait staff was excellent and free refills were at your table before you could even ask. Food was not overpriced and portions were large. GREAT RESTAURANT will come back soon.

The food is pricy-yes, but you pay for atmosphere- no different than other fancy restaurants in downtown Philadelphia. I've been there about 4 times within the last five years. I can say that the food was okay last time I had it...used to be way better. The iced-tea, cornbread, and desserts stayed the same though. They're a must-get.

They were out of several menu items at 5:00 PM on a Sunday. I had smothered pork chops with yams and collard greens. The portion size was large so I brought more than half home. My friend had the shrimp and grits entrée and the grits were like soup. The waitress said that is how they serve their grits. The... More

Okay, 2.5 hours to be seated, which is long, but I figured it would be worth it. When we got there, we asked before ordering to split the check, but the waiter didn't, and they forgot to make us one of the entrees we ordered, so we said not to worry about it. The food was okay, but the chicken... More

Very nice place. Service was well, but very over priced. I went for my bday and it was an okay atmosphere. When my food came it looked great but it had so much salt in it i couldnt enjoy it. Everything taste like heavy-duty salt... i feel i developed high blood pressure after eating there.. my next problem was the... More

I'll start with the positives. The staff were excellent. They were pleasant, personable, accomodating, and professional. The restaurant was small, but also very stylish. I was not pleased with my food. I ordered the lamb chops. They were drenched in sauce, so they'd become limp and soupy. I ordered okra sauteed with corn and tomato, which was delivered to be... Visited Ms Tootsies for diner and was not disappointed. I had fried chicken, black eyed peas and rice and macaroni and cheese. My choices were seasoned to perfection...just right and not too salty. Now, my friends had eaten there the day before and complained that the collard greens were very salty and the candied yams too sweet so I chose... More

A few friends recommended Ms Tootsie's and I was excited to try it out. We already knew there would be a long wait so we went later on a Saturday evening. We got there around 9:30pm and got seated around 10:30pm. We got the wing appetizer which was good. We had one round of cocktails and just ok. I ordered... More

I stopped here for dinner and It was even better than my last visit. It was crowded as usual, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. The hostess wasn't the friendliest but the waiter there was extremely friendly and helpful, helping us decided what food and drinks to order. The food didn't take long to come and when it... More
