Great sushi but pricey

This the type of restaurant you go to for celebrations, anniversaries etc. The decor and ambiance is trendy. The prices are relatively high but it is good sushi. We got an appetizer called rock shrimp which was out of this world. The warm sake was pretty good.

The 8 course Omakase was highly highly highly recommended by friends so I made time to fly into Philly and give it a go. It wasn't "best meal of my life" good but the food was indeed very good. The tuna tartare was out of this world and the hot oil sashimi was beyond words. The hot food courses were... More

We received a gift card for this restaurant and since it is located right around the corner from the Walnut St Theater, and we were going there, it was a no-brainer to try it out. Morimoto specializes in Japanese cuisine (the owner is an Iron Chef - Food Network) and we had not really experienced this type of food before.... More

I am glad we visited Morimoto's. It was worth a stop while in Philadelphia. However, neither the price nor the quality would justify going out of one's way. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed our visit; but, after spending nearly $300, we left feeling a bit unfulfilled. The sushi just wasn't as good as we had hoped for. Nothing about... More

By far the best restaurant I have ever visited. Beautiful, color changing atmosphere - knowledgable staff - amazing food. This place is unbeatable. I will be going back and I recommend that everyone tries it once in their life.

The food at Morimoto is consistently good. The scallop appetizer they had on special was great. Their drinks are great and the sushi is always fresh. We had an issue with some of the tuna being too fishy this time around, but other pieces on our plates were ok. Maybe just an off piece of fish. The waitress was really... More

This is first class all the way. Hostess set the friendly tone, waiter was over the top with recommendations and service and the food - WOW

very disapointed. Food is on par with your local take out sushi place. Overpriced / no value. Server was very nice but missed a ton for top priced restaurant in philly.

Another A+ meal at Morimoto. Went with the omakase menu and was not disappointed. Main courses included slices of the wagyu kobe beef and an 8 spice lobster - which was incredible - great oyster course and sushi course as well. As always, the service was absolutely fantastic. Recommend watching where you sit during the winter though. If you sit... More

Splurge for the tasting menu or order anything...and I mean anything because there wasn't a plate placed in front of me or that walked past our table that didn't smell delicious or look amazing. And my tasting menu let me try so many things that I can honestly say there wasn't anything I didn't like. Make morimoto a stop when... More
