This is a nice place for a quiet lunch. Great location in old city. The soups are wonderful as are the sandwiches. Highly recommend.

Live in the neighborhood and I love this place. Staff is great, drinks are delicious, and food is yummy. I very much like their seasonal drinks.

Staying near by and stopped in for a drink and a recommendation on a place to get a slice of pizza. I was surprised to learn that their kitchen is open fairly late. The Mac 'n cheese sounded good and was highly recommended by the bar tender. It was supurb. This is a place I'd like to go back to... More

Very friendly place, a real neighborhood feel in Old City, Philadelphia. Decent cheesesteak, but the hotdogs are worth trying! Had a group there and had them plain and a couple with the special venison chili and slaw! Lamb casing, unique flavor.... And the service was friendly and funny. And the price did not break the budget!

My wife and I stopped here for a few beers. We were impressed. This is a fun pub with lots of character and a really neat atmosphere. Sassafras Bar is over 100 years old. The locals at the bar were all friendly and had lots of stories to tell about this area. This bar has many excellent beers on tap.

A real find. Welcoming, characterful, charming. Fabulous cocktails, gentle jazz, grown up but far from dull. Food ok and the fried pickles were a revelation. On July 4th weekend, an oasis from the tourist traps. Be charmed by the delightful bartenders and their Irish burr.

On the way to celebrate our 40th Anniversary Dinner, we met the rest of our party at Sassafras. It is a great bar with wonderful old fashioned character in what must have been someone's elegant townhome. The tile work on the walls was hand painted in another era. The drink menu evokes days of romantic meetings over a lovely cocktail.... More

The wife and I stopped in after a concert as this place was close to our hotel. It was a good choice as the bartender was very good and had a very large selection of liquors at his disposal. He did a very good job at keeping the customers happy as he was alone and it was decently busy throughout.... More
