Stopped by for dinner while in town the other night, we tried a number of dishes, barbecue pork, sea bass, Szechuan Chicken, crispy Brussel sprouts, fried rice with Kim-chie, all of them amazing! All four of us were blown away, some of the best food I have had on the road in ages...

Nice different dishes. Chosen for the chefs special. Because I was alone I'd did not care the food came after each other pretty quickly. Excellent taste and flavors. Only thing i would improve is the coffee. Ordered espresso, but that was anything but an espresso. But I think this is a more generic problem in a lot of American restaurants...

Portions were small for the price. Several dishes were VERY spicey (including my scallops). The shrimp pad thai was fair. The crispy brussel sprouts were very good. Drinks were good but pricey.

Went here on the spur of the moment after we couldn't get into another restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service. The only odd thing is that we walked into the restaurant and told there was an hour and a half wait... so we walked outside and looked up other restaurants on OpenTable... More

We enjoyed our meal at Sampan but felt that the food is overpriced. We did not select the sampler option at $45 per person because we were not overly hungry so we ordered individual entrees. They have lots of rules for example, you cannot order some appetizers with your cocktail before you order your meal. They require you to order... More

Chef's taste menu for 1 person is not good deal. I had lobster (spoon size), Kobe beef (is pretty good), grilled lamb (2 pieces, over cooked), main dish is scallop (only 1 piece - not worthy), pad Thai with shrimps ( good portion). The service is good and professional. I think it is better order 1 starter, 1 main dish... More

I'll admit, I am NOT a fan of Asian Cuisine, but I did tell my daughter to pick where she wanted to dine in Philly. It was a good thing we arrived around 5 on a Friday night, because it was standing room only by the time we left. Our waiter, was very helpful in guiding our choice of beer... More

My wife and I have visited many restaurants throughout the world. In major metropolitan US cities this was a fabulous experience. We ordered from the tasting menu and it was well worth the price. You basically got one dish free. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an Asian flavor

Our recent dining experience at Sampan was memorable. We had to wait a bit longer than we would have liked for our table, but it was worth it. The menu is innovative and the food deftly prepared. The chef's tasting menu is a great way to go. Seven dishes for $45 per person. Among the stand outs were the crispy... More
