Really tasty

My husband and I went on a recommendation and found it to be pretty wonderful. At first glance the menu doesn't seem exciting, but when we got the food we found it was better than expected. The salad wraps or cups and the soup dumplings were really spectacular. I give it four starts because the... read more

Others really seem to like this place but honestly it is really chain restaurant quality food with an over the top trendy atmosphere that is unintendedly comical...as was our waiter who tried to "outsmart us" by overcharging us for a tasting menu. Anyhow....the food sub par, greasy, fried stuff mostly. Loud techno music playing...I djdnt think people played that anymore?... More

With all of the great reviews on the internet and our great experiences with other tapas restaurants on 13th street, we were looking forward to trying this place. I placed a reservation online and clearly stated that one of the people (me) in the party was in a wheelchair and required a service dog who provides physical assistance so to... More

I'm usually a bit skeptical of places sporting four $$$$, but we stopped in during happy hour and had some great small plates and drinks for a very reasonable bill. The interior of this restaurant is top notch, very modern without being pretentious.

To begin with, I went with a group on a beautiful, warm, busy Saturday night at dinner time, with no reservation, and although the place was packed, they were able to throw some tables together, and gave us a very nice table for seven people right away. We even had someone show up late, while the rest of us were... More

Stumbled on Sampan while traveling to Phila on business. 13th Street overall was a great find but Sampan was the cherry on the sundae. Had spring rolls and barbqued beef plus fried Brussels sprouts. Service was great, lively atmosphere. I ate at the bar since I was alone but the overall experience was still outstanding. Reminiscent of TAO in NYC.

My mum and I hosted a dear friend and my colleague to dinner at Sampan last evening. For us as Asians, "Asian-fusion" would either be an ethereal experience or a disaster. I'm happy to say Sampan was an ethereal experience! We wisely examined all the TripAdvisor blogs on Sampan and ordered all the clear favourites that have been mentioned over... More

If you're looking for a place to catch up on the latest news with a friend or are in the mood to share with that special someone--this is the place. Small plates of really creative food meant to share are beautifully delivered to you by helpful wait staff. It's upscale casual and fun. There's something on the menu for everyone.... More

This is a great spot on 13th St, with a fun outdoor seating area, a bar with a great vibe, and an all around swanky atmosphere. Sampan is a fun place to eat with a small group. I wouldn't consider it ideal for a romantic date or for a large business dinner, which is what I hosted there. The way... More
