Last friday, after sitting through a long Commencment ceremony where my nephew received his PhD, the family adjourned to the Garces Trading Company for lunch. The service was wonderful and the selections were out of this world. The wine and beer selection was outstanding with several good local brews on tap. For starters we shared the charcuterie platter and the... More

Lunch was inexpensive and yet good quality. The menu options were innovative and the execution above average. The downfall was the service, slow and inattentive. The manager was floating about but clearly not properly supervising. Tables were dirty when we arrived and servers were pleasant but extremely slow and seemingly uninterested. Also their much vaunted oil and vinegar self selection... More

This is our go-to place for breakfast or brunch in center city Philadelphia. Good service and some creative breakfast dishes and seasonings. Don't come here for eggs, bacon and hashbrowns, but if you want to step up to a more gourmet breakfast, you won't be disappointed. The coffee is very good and the prices are about 2x what you would... More

Took some business associates here for dinner based on recommendations from our travel agency. Portions were small for the price. Items were not as described. For example, ziti with red sauce was served fri diavolo style, and when the associate in my party questioned them on it since the menu did not indicate it would be spicy, they apologized and... More

GTC Burger was great and the Duck Fat Frites are also very good. Definitely consider the cocktails with your meal, Mimosa and Regent Punch were pretty good.

So I went to Garces Trading yesterday, which just happened to be a no corkage fee Tuesday (a new weekly event) so took advantage of the on-site wine store. Best set-up ever! Got a $40 bottle on sale for $20 and was shared among the table. The food was fabulous! We started with the chess-plate, which was a tad-bit smaller... More

The food was very good, staff was attentive and courteous. Portions were small for the price. Not traditional Italian food so if you like pasta with red sauce or beef, port, lamb meatballs this is not the place for you.

My first time at this Philadelphia restaurant. I was there for Med School Match day and the place was very busy. Prices are middle range and their food style is more like bar or small meal menu but the taste and presentations are great. Expect high fat content (Except for the very nice salads) and the taste that goes with... More

I went here with 2 colleagues from work as a "kick off" to a large academic meeting in Philadelphia. The service was smooth adn friendly and the food was wonderful. We had a charcuterie platter and olives as an appetizer, which were of high quality and went well with our bread and truffle oil. I had the branzino which was... More

Brunch choices upscale and have better descriptions than taste the morning we ate. Nothing bad, but just not as good as meals we've had at dinner time. Seems they are fitting in a cuisine that just isn't up to par with evening service. Waitstaff friendly and informative. Decor takes on a different brightness in the morning than late evening. Prices... More
