Friendly place tucked into a quaint neighborhood

We were on a tour bus. It takes real skill to maneuver the narrow streets. A truck carrying construction materials got stuck trying to make a turn and held up traffic in all directions . Parking a premium. It is a fashion statement in retro bohemian urban renewal chic. The problem is people are... read more

We have dined at this restaurant several times and it has become a staple as we travel to Philly quite a bit. Apparently during this past week it was Philly restaurant week which didn't mean anything to us. That is until we got to the restaurant where they informed us they no longer were serving their normal menu. We always... More

How fortunate we were to arrive in Philadelphia during their food week. Superb restaurants offering lunch and dinner deals allowing us the pleasure of sampling some of the best food delights. The four course meal at Garces Trading was superb all around. The goat bolognese and the trout almandine were delicious. I especially loved the peppers with anchovies. A wonderful... More

Forgot to check the hours of the restaurant we wanted to go to and realized when we got there that they were closed on Mondays. Stumbled around looking for a place. A stranger suggested 2 options. Mentioned that the 2nd one was a famous chef. Tried that one. Super amazing fabulous food. We were under dressed and maybe not the... More

A local sent us to this dining establishment and I had high hopes. The service was excellent, not intrusive, quick and attentive. The chicken I had was covered in a green sauce, pounded thin with no sides. My friend had a salad that was fine but she would not order it again. I would not go out of my way... More

One of my favorite spots in the city! GTC's menu is well-curated with a focus on traditional European dishes, many with a little twist courtesy of the Chef. I'm partial to dining at the bar - Josh is super attentive & is always ready to shake up a classic cocktail (preferably dirty Tito on the rocks) or one of the... More

The Garces Trading Company has long been a favorite during our annual visits to Philadelphia. While the cuisine is still excellent, the setting has changed and the service has slipped a bit. We were initially seated against a wall with a curtain even though plenty of better two-seat tables were available on a Sunday night. There were only four entrees... More

This was the 3rd dinner (first two were great/very good) out in Philly for our family of four (2 older teens and 2 adults) adventurous eaters. Let me start by saying the artificial flowers in the entrance way set up to mimic a French market need to go, no one is buying the trumped up scene and it really detracts... More

There are a number of better places in Philadelphia to eat - so this is Average to Very Good. Here is what is good - and not so good. You must read the not so good. Good - The warm Mozzarella appetizer, various steak entrees, vichyssoise soup and charcuterie apps. Not so good - Well the service is uneven -... More
