Girls dinner

My mother, sister and I wanted to eat at one of the Philadelphia Magazine top 50 restaurants and chose this because we could walk from our hotel and because it was one of the Vetri restaurants. We sat outside which was wonderful and enjoyed a several course meal and enjoyed every bite. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and gave wonderful recommendations! Sweat breads, veal tongue and bucatini were our favorites. Skip the polenta side.

I love the location of this restaurant & its casual atmosphere. And while I had a lovely meal here with family, the consistency of our dishes varied wildly. Some plates were wonderful such as the mixed salumi platter, the grilled veal tongue and fried cauliflower. While others were very disappointing: tuna bruschetta (very dry) and the tortellini in brodo (thin... More

Visited on a weeknight in early April. Service was slow, cocktails good but tiny. My monkfish was not great and I didn't eat much of it; they kindly took it off the bill without my asking. Many superb restaurants in Philly, doubt I will be giving this another try after my so-so experience.

This is a very busy place (on the night we went anyway). It took a while to be seated, but once the table opened up the staff hustled to get it ready and us seated very quickly. Very good service, great and knowledgeable staff. The food we ordered came swiftly and in good portions to keep the entire group happy... More

Everything about Amis exceeded our expectations. We sat at the kitchen bar in front of the prep station and got to talk to the folks doing the work. They were incredible people and we felt part of the family by the time we left. The food was very, very good and the atmosphere perfect for just about any occasion, though... More

Our first, but not last, visit to Amis was to celebrate a friends' 50th birthday, so it was special event. Amis helped make it a lasting memory. The food was excellent, vary unusual menu with some neat twists on standards. The special for the night focused on Guinea Fowl in 3 different ways. The entrée saltimbocca was awesome !!!. The... Be sure to order the traditional meatballs for an appetizer at Ami's. The swordfish meatballs are also worth mentioning. Philadelphia is a tough town for Italian cuisine to stand out, but Ami's is a formidable contender. I also highly recommend the olive oil cake. Ami's is a few blocks away from midtown village, but worth the walk to the understated... More

I guess I might just be used to really good suburban BYO Italian places where the menu is diverse and food is plentiful. I found the menu limited and the portions were small. I also think the descriptions could have been better. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed what I ordered (the mozzarella with honey and walnuts, the brick chicken... More

Let me start off by saying this has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. Our last visit was disappointing. It started off with a long wait for a table with people being seated before us who had arrived later. They forgot about us at the bar. Our service as always was excellent. Our server was on the...
