Hands down best in philly

Roast pork, never had any better anywhere, tons of pork and best bread around, and then the cheesesteaks, there is so many awesome places in philly for cheesesteaks, my opinion this is the best!! Stay away from pat's and geno's, and get all your sandwhiches here, you will not regret it..

Pat's and Gino's are great, but John's Roast Pork trumps them all. Has a great cheesesteak if that's what you're looking for, but the Roast Pork Sandwich is legit. Add some provolone, broccoli rabe, and hot peppers and you're good to go!

This little nondescript shack is home to one of the best sandwiches in the USA. James Beard award, Andrew Zimmerman approved....the roadt pork sandwich with sharp provolone is truly a great sandwich. New hours beginning March 2015. It is now open from 7 am til 7 pm. It used to close at 3pm. It is on a little triangle of... More

I am already thinking of how and when I can get back there from Nj. We were visiting the children's hospital in Philly and wanted a great cheesesteak and we're going to either go to Pats or Gino's but saw this had better reviews and decided to try it. We got a cheesesteak and the pork sandwich smothered in the... More

In great news for anyone who values a great cheese steak or rather the best cheese steak, John's has extended their hours to 7 AM to 7 PM , Monday through Saturday. Also they have introduced a great new Roast Beef Sandwich to join the rest of their outstanding menu. One of the amazing things about this James Beard award... More

We happened to stop in the night before a flight out and it was the 85th anniversary so the beef, pork and meatball sandwiches were $.85 each. Happy to take part in the celebration. The line moved quickly. There was a singer/guitar player outside braving the cold but doing a terrific job. We LOVED the pork sandwiches. The beef and... More

You can't come to Philly and not get a cheesesteak! And you better get it from here, the place is tiny inside with minimal seating, picnic style seating on the patio and the exterior is surrounded by Industrial dirt and it still has lines wrapping around the building! Melt in your mouth giant sandwiches full of flavor! And there's more... More

If you are visiting the city, or have lived here for 50 years, head over to John's Roast Pork. Yes, the cheese steaks are good, but trust me, order a large roast pork, extra sharp provolone, and greens and you will have one of the the best sandwiches in the country. Real men get long hots on the sandwich. Sitting... More

If you can only have one Philadelphia cheesesteak, this is where you should go. Having lived in the Philadelphia area for 20 years, and in the city itself for the last 10 years, I have eaten a Philly cheesesteak from almost everywhere. John's Roast Pork makes the best cheesesteaks, their roast pork sandwich isn't bad either, but their Cheesesteak is... More

We went to John's Roast Pork based on reviews on Trip Advisor. It is a small place without indoor seating. The outdoor seating is limited. It was a cold day and, even though there was an outdoor heater, it was still cold to sit outside. However the roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone and spinach was delicious. The small sandwich...
