Three and half heels - good - return visitor. I love food. So when the "Dude" and I moved to Mount Airy, we were immediately told to go to Geechee Girl. We've visited a couple of times and no matter what we had - it was SPECTACULAR! If its your first visit, you must have the fried chicken. Be sure... More

I wasn't sure what to expect based on some previous reviews but I find it best to keep an open mind. And what a delightful experience our group had. Delicious, fresh, beautifully prepared dinner! The restaurant is charming and the service was incredibly personal. If you're looking for big and bustling, this place isn't for you. If you're looking for... More

I had heard all the great reviews so I wanted to give it a try. Took the family their for Mother's Day and it was a horrible experience. From start to finish the meal took 3 HOURS! We had to wait over 20 minutes to get water. We asked the staff twice for water because a member of our party... More

GeeChee Girl Rice Café serves Low Country food with roots from South Carolina. The food is very fresh and well prepared by Chef Valerie Erwin. The dining room is directed by Leigh Erwin with care and politeness. You can bring your own wine. It is a bit north of the city but worth the ride.

Located in Mt. Airy of Philadelphia, the place is on the small side, but makes up in the very friendly staff and the excellent food. It's right across from a fire station, so beware of sirens. If you like southern style cooking, you will be in heaven. Worth the prices. Making a reservation is recommended, especially for weekend. The pulled... More

This may seem like a strange way to start a restaurant review, but the bathrooms at Geechee Girl are pristine, capacious and utterly private. Maybe that's a function of the owners growing up in a family of five girls, but it's a nice touch. The setting, on the whole, is a relatively plain storefront setting that belies the remarkable and... More

Just returned from a late dinner at GeeChee Girl. The service was great and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the Brie salad as well as the peach cobbler. I will definitely be making a stop here next time I am in town.

Geechee Girl Rice Cafe is a small quaint restaurant that has lots of character, comforting music, and a really warm atmosphere. I found this restaurant on TV while watching Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Chef Guy Fieri as the host. Thursday evening around 6pm, visualize three people waiting for their take-out orders and only one group actually dining in. So... More

Our experience was totally unlike some of the others described on this page. We arrived late on a Friday evening; sadly, there was only one other party in the place. The food did not take too long to prepare -- certainly no longer than well-prepared food should take. The appetizers came quickly, including light, fluffy cod fritters without a trace... More

Wonderful experience all around. A range of southern Geechee (Gullah) African American style cooking on offer at this family run cafe. Valerie prepares these dishes to autenthic Geechee recipies with pride and love (it shows in the food!)... If you are seeking a very different food experience, Geechee Girlis the place! Its also BYOB - so bring your favourite bottle... More
