Our friends in SF told us that Base Camp Cafe is a must visit restaurant in Mammoth Lakes. We followed their advice. We went there for lunch. We all enjoyed what we ordered (sandwiches, a soup, and a salad). Sandwiches tasted great. Salad was fresh and tasty. We were so impressed. We ordered take-outs sandwiches for dinner that evening. Service... More

Loved the selection of teas and the french toast. Wonderful! Also loved watching the tv up above showing all of the activities to do in Mammorth.

Went for lunch with my son. Food was fine. A little overpriced, but nothing beyond reason for a destination town. They were out of some menu items - not good given the small menu they have to begin with. The service was friendly but poor. I'll just say that the only thing that arrived in timely fashion was the check... More

Sorry our service was a little off during your visit. I know we are training a couple new servers, but maybe the "laid back" atmosphere as you mentioned got a little too much so! Appreciate very much your stopping by and glad the overall experience was good. Safe travels, and thanks for visiting Mammoth! More

Great hearty breakfasts! BUT, limited choices on eggs - no Egg Beaters or poached eggs. Oatmeal is delicious!

Thanks so much for stopping by and your menu suggestions. Will keep those in mind. Glad you enjoyed the oats. Coaches Oats are a premium brand that we carry and our guests enjoy them. Safe travels. More

Two of us had lunch here recently while visiting the art festival across the street. The menu described the Cesar wrap as huge, so two of us decided to share it. It turned out to be very average in size but was very delicious as was the salad on the side. We definitely had room for Ben and Jerry's ice... More

We stopped in while exploring the various fishing lakes in mammoth. 3 of us had sandwiches and hubby had a burger. Everyone was satisfied with quality and we all walked out full. Service was top notch for us as we were asked by at least 4 young ladies if we needed anything. Beat the lunchtime rush before noon as the... More

Thanks so much for stopping by. We are small and sometimes get a bit challenged when it is super busy with our tiny kitchen, but we love our place and glad you enjoyed it as well! Safe travels...:) More

Great local place with pics of the area and a dvd loop of things to do. The food was well done and the service was casual, but attentive. How great to go somewhere that is not a chain, that understands what it's doing, and does it well. Highly recommended.

This is the place for you if you are really hungry. The portion is huge. I had the veggie scramble. It was delicious and healthy having lots of fresh tomatoes, broccoli and mushroom. The 2-2-2 is a great deal. The kids chose pancakes and bacon with eggs. The pancakes were gigantic and fluffy! The bacons were big thick cut stripes.... More

Thrilled to hear that you had a nice experience at our little camp and that everyone in the family enjoyed themselves. Thanks so much for stopping by, we really appreciate it. BTW, that "house" coffee is roasted to order by Intelligentsia in Los Angeles for us so it is always top quality and fresh. So glad you noticed! Happy Hiking! More

Only stays open until 4pm. Awesome relaxing atmosphere. Great onion rings and handcrafted ham sandwich. Mexican foods, too. Also serves breakfast. Next door is Bleu wine bar.

Been to Base Camp twice this month. The former owner ran the place well. Don't know who exactly is "in charge" now, but the place isn't the same. The layout, for one, as there is one HUGE table for diners in the center (so you can sit elbow-to-elbow with strangers at various stages of ordering/eating/finish their meals), and booths on... More

Sorry the changes didn't work for you. It is still a work in process. Skip was a friend and colleague and I know he would appreciate we are working hard to save this place but there will be occasional bumps along that way. Safe travels...! More
