We are in Mammoth several times a year and always come to Shogun on our first night in town for martinis and tempura. Both are great. The rest of the menu is only fair and we seldom order anything else from it. Oh, and the miso. Very good, especially when the weather is cold. We really enjoy our Shogun tradition.

Not the most warm of welcomes when we arrived. Service from the waitress was very disappointing as it was obvious she was more interested in sorting out her end of shift night out with her local friends. She didn't take a drinks order, and when one of our party asked for a drink the order was taken and she ran,... More

I highly recommend NOT coming here for dinner. Prices are significantly higher than average. Food quality is far below average. Customer service is so so at best. Just not worth the value. If you're in your early twenties and are going there to just spend money on sake bombs, I recommend saving some money and enjoy a local beer else... More

We were advised by a local friend to got to Sushi Rei across town, but they were closed. We went to Shogun on a Monday night with a party of nine. The bar area was busy but not crazy. We sat in the ding area which looked to be 60% full. Our Server although very nice, wasn't knowledgable on the... More

We tried this place out for 1st time in past 10 yrs going here. The ski rental guy downstairs from the restaurant recommended it. Food came quickly. Teriyaki chicken and yakitpri chicken dinners were delicious. Jalapeño boat and Robbie roll were fresh and just spicey enough. All fish farm grown and fresh. Nice place. Original sushi place in Mammoth area.

How do I put this nicely? This was the worst sushi we have ever had. Costco is better. Hostess was kinda rude. We moved to the bar. 1 person serving 20. He was more interested in the locals. He didn't feel like telling us about the alcohol. We ordered 3 rolls, bland all looked the same tasted the same. They... More

Let me first say that we have been visiting the Mammoth Lakes area for our family summer vacations soaking up the outdoors, local activities and fishing the many beautiful lakes for over 30 years . For most of these trips - the night cap was to visit the Shogun Restaurant on the last day for our final dinner to celebrate... More

I always visit this restaurant when I go to Mammoth. The sushi has always been pretty good and they also have some tasty appetizers.

My son and I ate there this past weekend 7-2013. We had a very unfriendly waitress, she appeared to be half Asian. She was not very attentive and we had to ask for just about everything. We ordered the chicken teriyaki / shrimp tempura combination, it was very pricey at $18 but we anticipated that because of the location. What... More
