Schats's has some of the best coffee in Mammoth Lakes and their pastries are consistently wonderful; also the employees are very nice and patient.

Schat's Bakery has been a local favorite for a long time. They have a store in Bishop and now for many years in Mammoth Lakes. I have never eaten breakfast or lunch at Scaht's. We always get the breads or the pastries. The most famous bread is their cheese breads. Others are their Sheepherder and Honey Skquaw bread. All excellent... More

Decided to stop in for a sandwich at lunchtime - the turkey was all but gone and what was left in the pan at the counter looked dry and overdone. The sliced roast beef next to the turkey looked more like beef jerky than a roast. So I settled for half a Pastrami sandwich and Tomato Basil soup. Really, who... More

I have no idea why everyone told us to stop here. It was good for sure, but not the "fabulous", "outstanding", "best ever" bakery we heard about. We left empty handed!

Roast beef, pastrami and turkey sandwiches were all good but nothing special. Good for lunch on the go. Pleasant counter service. Baked goods in front of shop looked tasty and were tasty. Average but nothing special. A little pricey but not outa control. Certainly more of a tourist than locals based on price.

I live in Mammoth and love to go to Schat's for the great bakery goods, breads, and sandwiches. It is a very different business than the Schat's down in Bishop.

Their breads and pastries are to die for. In addition they make excellent sandwiches for lunch but can often be incredibly crowded.

Ok, I get it this place is The main attraction in Bishop but a loaf bread for $7 is just too much for my shallow pocket. Too crowded.

We originally thought that we'd grab something for breakfast from here but the line was way too long so we went over to the Base Camp restaurant which was very good. After breakfast , we went back to Schat's to pick up some things to take home with us. The crowds were gone and there were still plenty of products... More

They have a great selection of bakery items and sandwiches. It is a little expensive, but it's Mammoth. Not the same as the bakery with the same name in Bishop. You can buy desserts to take home or where ever you are staying.
