I absolutely love this bakery. It has a wide variety of baked goods, desserts, coffee drinks and gelato! The service was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing! There is outdoor seating and a sit-down cafe in the back. I will definitely go back there soon! It opens at 6 am :)

They slice their bread (home made) lengthwise and two pieces make a sandwich. I got a half sandwich and was more than satisfied. However, do not get any of their baked goods.....because you cannot stop at one. An incredible bakery, and a great dining experience.

The bread is the best you ever had besides mama's homemade. Also, I bought olive oil, chocolates, fabulous fresh squeezed OJ. Get the day old bread. It is FRESH and cheap. Tried several kinds. Mad that the deli closes at 3pm. Went to Bleu's next to it for handcrafted meat, cheese, olives, peppers, asked for Dijon. Then made my own... More

This is a favorite bakery to stop at. The bread (to go with the trout that we catch) is just perfect. We like the Sheepherder and the onion bread a lot. They also have a good variety of cookies and pastries. There is a small cafe as well - good if you want a bowl of warm soup on a... More

This place is a classic and the baked goods are exquisite. It's a 'dangerous' place to go if you're on a diet because there are too many temptations. Be aware that it's always crowded in the morning, esp on weekends, and you may have to wait in line for awhile but it's worth the wait. They have little tables outside... More

We love to stop here for "treats" when we visit the Mammoth area. Sure, it's expensive bakery goods, but SO good, LOVE the Florentine cookies, my favorite, huge bear claw rings, the softest and tastiest breads, you just gotta try at least once.

If you love pastries this is a must for your trip to Mammoth Lakes. An amazing array of delicious delicacies. My only complaint is that the clerks don't speak much English and so be very specific in pointing out your selection.

Just back from Mammoth & a carful ( well at least a bag) of goodies & breads from Schat's for the folks at home. This local institution - also a big presence in Bishop down the hill - bakes & sells wonderful pastries, chewy savory or sweet breads and preps sandwiches for the trail or your rented condo. I had... This place has incredible sandwiches at reasonable prices. Good luck trying to escape without trying one of the insanely delicious pastries in the front.

We really enjoyed visiting Schat's Bakery. There were MANY baked goods for all your carb-loading needs: a variety of breads, breakfast pastries, donuts, muffins, cookies, etc. They also have gelato, a huge selection of teas, and an interior cafe a (which we did not try). Their cheese bread is awesome! But beware, it is always crowded and you'll probably have... More
