Fine sandwiches and cookies

We were so hungry when we lucked upon this place. Wonderful fresh baked breads. I got the 1/2 roast beef on sour dough. The roast beef was baked in house and quite tasty. Then we got coconut macaroons and delicious grapefruit gelato. All reasonably priced. Friendly staff and handy outlets to charge... read more

The coffee was so/so (we like it strong - if you do maybe get double shots) but the baked goods were amazing. I could have blown my diet big-time here! We held ourselves in check tho and only got 1 pastrie each! It looked like they had great breads and they do deli sandwiches here as well as soup. Great... More

My favorite is the 7 Grain Bread, apple strudel, dark chocolate candies. There is also an excellent assortment of home style gourmet jams! The sandwich bar is also excellent with freshly made sandwiches.

Special thanks to Rachel for baking the most wonderful and unique wedding cake for us. We gave her a most unusual challenge for our "Voyage to the Moon" themed wedding: a sphere shaped cake that looks like the moon. And she just went to town with it. For a grooms cake, she made an Earth cake with "scientifically accurate" colored... More

Shea Schat's bakery and Erik Schat's in Bishop are totally independently owned. Bread is good but in the last two years the variety of types of bread have gone down a lot. The variety of breads that are found at Schatt's in Bishop is greater plus you can always get the many varieties in Bishop. Mammoth Shea Schat's list several... More

My husband and I shared a delicious hand- carved turkey with avocado and sprouts sandwich. You order at a counter and carry your paper plate to any table. The clerk gave us the extra plate, no comments or questions, and added an extra pickle and extra cookie at no charge. Lots of skiers and families there. Very tasty, fresh food--... More

Made a trip here for the focaccia we had tasted the evening before-so light & airy!!! Bought loaves as souvenirs! It makes the best sandwich too. Great florentine & sugar cookies, fruit pastry. Will return for glazed donuts & more bread!

Wonderful, fresh danish pastries! Baked to perfection! Not the soggy, under-baked stuff you get elsewhere. Just the way you would expect it from a bakery in Europe.

This bakery with a small cafe in the rear is a pleasant surprise in otherwise pedestrian Mammoth. There is a good variety of pastries and breads though some are better than others. The coffee is good but there is not a great selection. The counter staff is very helpful.

Schat's bakery is a real bakery and their pastries are delicious for those the times you decide to indulge, They also have homemade truffles and turtles that are better than the chocolate shope at the resort lodges. The first visit to the bakery, i was not impressed by the deli area. How wrong i was. On a later visit we... More
