i am not sure why when i am in mammoth and going out, i just do not go out here every night. for my palate, this is the best restaurant that i have been to in mammoth. the caprese salad had flavorful tomatoes, lovely composition, reasonable mozzarella, and a nice balsamic reduction. i have certainly had better duck confits; while... This place was recommended by several locals as being their favorite restaurant in town. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience. First, we got seated in a back room area with no windows. Very dark and nothing to look at but nearly blank walls. The server was friendly and informative, but the food was so-so. The mushroom soup looked like... More

This may be the best restaurant for multiple tasty fish selections in Mammoth. They also have great choices for other tastes as well. The wine list, both by glass and bottle, is good. Prices are moderately high (roughly the $20 to $30 range per dinner entree) but worth it. (My higher rated choices are more expensive; including Restaurant at Convict... More

I have no idea how this restaurant garnered 4 stars. From the WARM "fresh" oysters, to the ammonia flavored scallops and the bolognese that tasted like it was from Olive Garden, this place should be ashamed to call themselves a bistro. And oh, I thought a 'wine bar' meant you could actually taste wines beforehand but our waiter was distressed... More

We saw Petra's recommended in a local guide, so decided to give it a try. The food was excellent, partuclarly the scallops I had to start, which were succulent, juicy, sweet and plump. The fish main courses were also excellent, my partner's salmon fillet was cooked perfectly, with crisp, charred skin and flaky, juicy flesh. The wine list was very... More

The service was good. They have an excellent wine list and the food was very good. Our meat was rare rather than medium rare as we ordered it, but the flavor was so good I didn't really mind. Dessert was also very good

My husband and I stopped in for a glass of wine and had amazing appetizers as well! The duck confit was superb. Our server was friendly, very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for the food selection and drinks. This was our first visit to Petra's and we plan to return.

We rarely go to the same place twice during a vacation because one always wants to try new things. Here, we KNEW it would be hard to find anything better so we just went again and tried different dishes and wines. Killer wine list with lots of good stuff in all price ranges. Fairly priced and dozens of choices by... More
