Very Good Across the Board: Food, Service, Athmosphere

Let's begin by clarifying: THIS IS NOT IN DAYTON. It's in downtown Centerville. Not sure why the address is listed as Dayton. We made our first trip to Sweeney's for my wife's birthday and were not disappointed. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was "classic" for a seafood restaurant. Food... read more

Great restaurant that fills an empty niche in Centerville. For long-time residents, Sweeney's is in the old Antonio's Restaurant. The inside is bright and cheery with a nautical theme--a far cry from the old dark, red velvet of the former Italian restaurant. Fresh fish, delicious bread and a well-stocked bar complete with a variety of microbrews await you. I miss... More

We always try to support the locals but these locals couldn't care less if we were there or not. The hostess dropped the menus and never said a word..she clearly did not want to be there. The food is good but don't order non alcoholic beverages unless you're ok with no refills. Bottom line...good food terrible service. I'll go someplace... More

Big fan of Sweeneys' organic salmon, and seared Ahi tuna....never miss ordering their broccoli as a side..,and Doug at the bar is very intuitive and pleasant to chat with. Always have great beers on tap and my visits never disappoint.

I'd call this a sort of hidden gem, decor was nice and the food delicious. I had scallops, grilled. Mys dining partner had the salmon which was alos very good.

This was our first visit to the long-standing independent restaurant after new owners took over, more than a year ago. We visited on a Friday evening. Parking was limited. The restaurant had accepted reservations for our party of four and we were promptly seated on arrival. The restaurant was packed. Ambiance was nice but it was quite noisy. One of... More

My wife and I were in need of a "night out" and dined here in February 2015. Our overall experience was very enjoyable. We had reservations and were immediately seated at a table next to a nice aquarium. Their craft beer selection is terrific, as was their menu. We ordered crab bread for an appetizer, it was quite good. For... More

This is by far one of my favorite places to eat. Bread is amazing, salads are great, filet melts in your mouth and calamari is amazing! Worth every penny!!!

The Restaurant Week selections that we chose at Sweeny's were the Filet Oscar ($25.15) and the Cod with Chips ($20.15.) We started with the Dynamite Shrimp which were just spicy enough. The Caesar Salad was not very fresh but the Squash Soup was very tasty. The filet and crab cake were excellent and the cod was good. The Souverain 2012... More

I took my fiancé to Sweeney's for his birthday. He wanted seafood and neither of us had tried Sweeneys. It is in the heart of downtown Centerville and has a back door entrance. Very inviting and warm atmosphere. I had the oysters Rockefeller and my fiancé had the shrimp cocktail. Both were delicious! For entrees we had scallops and tilapia... More
