We (3) decided to go out to the Buckhorn, since they are a great nearby place, and it was Small Business Saturday, and they are local. When we arrived, the parking in front was full, the lot across the street was full, and it was after 6 on Saturday. We almost went on by! But one of our party inquired... More

We had very good service for a party of 11. 9 out of the 11 ordered the ribs and were very happy. Hubby and I ordered liver and onions with bacon, and cabbage rolls. Both were just ok. BUT THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE PIE was FABULOUS!

Craving comfort food in a cozy comfortable restaurant? The venerable Buckhorn Tavern will satisfy your quest for the best barbecued ribs in the Dayton area. The service is attentive even though the kitchen was recently slow in delivering the entree's to our salivating dinner party. Prices are good bringing true value to this one-of-a-kind restaurant located just off the beaten... More

Buckhorn Tavern is a 43 year old area favorite restaurant recommended by the Hotel manager who has been eating there since childhood. BBQ is featured but my party had fish. The grilled Roughy was one of the best fish dinners I have ever eaten. Lightly seasoned and perfectly grilled. My brother had pecan encrusted Tilapia. The batter was the perfect... More

I have lived in Dayton, for over 40 years, and this is my first visit to the Buckhorn! Arrived on a Saturday evening, about 6:30, without a reservation, at the end of the local 'Restaurant Week'. But, we only had to wait about 7 minutes.for a table. There were a couple of large parties in the room. Menus were provided... More

I have been to the Buckhorn many times over the years, but after our last visit, I would say that I think the years are catching up to it. Food was average to poor (one steak was terribly overcooked), hostesses not friendly. However, the place was crowded so it does seem to have a loyal following. That being said, crowd... More

I've had a lot of great steak in my life, but this was certainly NOT one of them. I had the NY strip and the flavor was Meh. Didn't eat but maybe half of it. Also had the fried green tomatoes and the crab cake appetizers and they were not notable either. Crab cake was browned on the outside and... More

The place is off the beaten path, that's for sure, but based on reviews from Trip Advisor wanted to try it out. When we travel we like to try the local flavors and stay away from the chains. We got the onion straws & rib appetizer. I ordered a burger and my wife the breaded pork sandwich. All food quality... More

When we pulled in it looked like a bar or tavern but once inside the place was amazing! Was seated in a dining room with a nice quaint atmosphere. The server was right there and very knowlegeable not only about the menu but the specials for the evening as well. I decided on the half-slab of ribs as this was... More
