A friend called as asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner. I said yes and we met at Jay's. Service was great and so was the food. Nice atmosphere and crowd.

I use to be a frequent visitor to Jay's and had not been there in awhile. I love to eat at locally owned places instead of the chains. So, here you go. The food is still good and our waiter was excellent. However, it is pricier than it should be and the ownership needs to go hospitality training. We had... More

Don't look for a big store front or parking lot. This place is a converted house and which is elegant inside. You would not be over dressed in a coat and tie but a button up shirt and slacks are acceptable. The service was unquestionably good and the food was too. The vichyssoise was very tasty. Make sure you try... More

I ate at this restaurant with a large group a few days ago. We admittedly disadvantaged the wait staff because our party had split checks. That said, my dinner (broiled seafood platter) was delivered and although the shrimp and scallops were tasty, the fish had a strong, soapy taste to it. When I tasted the fish I decided not to... We dined here recently with friends. The menu is definitely seafood, although there is one steak entrée and one chicken/pasta if I recall. They do have a few specials as well. The spinach salad is awesome. Desserts are also very good. Great wine selection. Prices are reasonable for fine dining. Service was excellent. I would go back if ever in... More

This is a nice restaurant to visit if you are visiting the Dayton area. It is a little hard to find. It is in a large old brick building. Interior boasts a long antique bar and open beam ceiling. Wait staff is friendly and very attentive. Food is rather expensive for what you get. Will cost you around 50 dollars... More

Jay's has been Dayton's primary seafood restaurant for over 35 years. That's good and bad. The seafood they serve is generally very good. The atmosphere is charming, if a bit antique-oriented. The slightly disappointing side is that they're resting on their laurels and offer nothing new or creative. Today's menu is pretty identical to that of 35 years ago. It's... More

Love the atmosphere of Jay's. Reminds you of the way nice restaurants used to be before all the chains came in. Food is magnificent here. Husband is not typically a seafood fan and he loved it. It is in the Oregon District which has its own charm. Always a plus to go to Jay's.

It's hit or miss here. I brought my boyfriend as he needed a place to take clients. Based on tonight's service he will not. The food is good, but old school presentation.
