Rthr Roost has it all; great food, service, ambience, etc. Whatever mood you're in, this can accomodate you. Inside or outside or just a seat at the bar. Up here in the North, i had the best shrimp and grits I've ever had and I've tried a lot all over the South. The arugula/watermelon/feta salad I had with the shrimp... More

We arrived a little early for our 7:30 reservation. The hostess seated us and we waited for our friends to arrive. I ordered a Chenin Blanc and my husband ordered a Cincinnati IPA. The Parmesan fries that come with your meal are absolutely incredible! Delicious! Our server was Emily and she was very patient, professional and friendly. Our group ordered:... More

6 of us sat on the patio and really enjoyed our dinner. 3 of us ordered the pesto pasta with asiago chicken and it was fantastic. One ordered scallops and said they were excellent also. Our server was terrific, as were the cocktails. Wine prices are very reasonable. Nice choice in the Oregon area of Dayton.

Three of us had dinner last night as a birthday celebration. We started with the parmesan fries, definitely enough for the three of us to split and have a "healthy" portion. Very tasty and the garlic dipping sauce is the bomb! (Do they still say that anymore?) All three of us had the warm mushroom salad. Divine! Sometimes arugula leaves... More

I had a wonderful dinner at Roost on a Sunday evening while spending a few days in Dayton on business. Blackened scallops were fantastic and perfectly prepared. Loved the unusual combination of chorizo in the risotto and the sauce was delicious. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner the next evening over drinks. Thanks for the conversation Dana! I would... Four of us dined here mid-week. The warm mushroom salad was outstanding. The entrees were deemed acceptable to very good; pork chops and shrimp & grits the former, lamb osso bucco and ravioli the later. Wine list had nice mix of Italian and California varietals. Very pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. Another reason to visit Fifth St in the Oregon

Roost serves Italianate cuisine, and yes, they earn the fancy-schmancy "cuisine" word. If you like seafood, eat here. The scallops were perfection. They had a special scallop appetizer with a jalapeño marmalade that was both inventive and danced a fancy jig on our tastebuds. We liked it so much, that both my wife and I went ahead and ordered main... More

Roost might have higher prices than other Dayton restaurants, but the owner and chefs truly care about the taste, presentation, and service you get for that cost. I have never eaten at Roost without seeing the owner speaking to customers or speaking to her myself. If you aren't 150% satisfied, they'll make it right and in a hurry. Simply put,... More

The atmosphere was nice, though we sat on the patio since we didn't have reservations. We ordered the sea salt crusted Scallops for an appetizer and they were just a little undercooked. For our entrees we ordered the Spaghetti and meatballs and Shrimp and grits. The spaghetti and meatballs were nothing particularly spectacular. You could get something just as good... More
