Although I have had sushi as a side dish a number of times before, I have never been to a sushi bar/restaurant with the intent to have a meal of sushi. My (adult) son lives in Dayton, so when I was visiting, we deciding to eat at a sushi bar he was familiar with. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and... More

This was my first experience eating at a sushi bar. The staff (waitress & sushi chef) were wonderful. They were very helpful in helping me choose what to order for my first time. The sushi was fresh & delicious!! I ordered the Rainbow Roll & Cucumber Roll. I literally stuffed myself. However, my sweet tea was a little too sweet.... More

Akashi definitely has the best Japanese food in the area. I go to Akashi for lunch at least once a week, and they have the best bento out of any Japanese restaurants in dayton. I usually order a Wariko bento. Which comes with a choice of main meat (bulgogi, kalbi, teriyaki chicken, salmon, etc), assorted tempura, yakisoba, cali roll, sashimi,... More

It's so wonderful (and we often take advantage of local places) that Akashi has been an established restaurant in Riverside, Ohio for a number of years. We live close by, but have not gotten around often enough to try all of their wonderful meals and sushi. Well, this was our second time, and we wanted to get some sushi. The... More

When we want sushi Akashi is always our first choice in town. The restaurant is warm and welcoming and the staff is always wonderful. We always have the spicy tuna, my favorite then choose others as the mood strikes. They have all been wonderful.

We wanted sushi for dinner so we went to Akashi. The decor is a bit dated and it is casual or nice casual. The service was excellent; a server was always nearby. The sushi was okay. If you are into fried sushi, I do not recommend this place; they only had one deep fried sushi and didn't offer any nigiri.... More

This is my favorite place to eat sushi. The quality of the food is amazing. I usually get the Firecracker sushi roll, which includes tempura shrimp, cream cheese, asparagus, avocado, cucumber, crab on top with masago... and of course the sauces. I might have missed a few ingredients or thrown an extra one in, but by far, Firecracker is the... More

Very fresh fish done in a traditional fashion. I travel frequently and like to have sushi fairly frequently. This is a very good place to have sushi. The service is solid and while the decor is not special it is clean and comfortable. The other Japanese and asian offerings are also good but the star is the sushi.

Chinese restaurants crowd the American dining-scape. Asian cuisine in various forms is on the rise. Therefore to find a Japanese restaurant in the Dayton area was a nice surprise. The Akashi Sushi Bar is located near Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Japanese is spoken in the restaurant which made it especially nice for my Japanese houseguests who while not coming... More

Nothing is very special here but then nothing is bad here. We go and will go again. The sushi and norimaki are just OK. The sake is expensive and the limited selection has nothing very good. The waitstaff is very pleasant when they happen by your table. Last visit the waitress didn't know what is Togarashi. The Japanese beer is... More
