After talking with a local on the street, this place was suggested to us. Not much to look at, sort of a 50's diner atmosphere which doesn't fit the name of Island Café. Our young waiter Gavin, was very spot on with his recommendations of the crab sandwich and the meatloaf. A bit over priced for the quantity but delicious.

We went for lunch on Sunday afternoon. They have a great view of the York River and the Riverwalk. Wonderful hot marinated green beans with tomato and onion was our side. Very cozy and charming little place in the Duke of York Hotel on Main Street.

We ate there 2 times the week that we visited Yorktown. We both had the seafood platter, one fried and one broiled. They were both wonderful. The crabcakes here are made from handpicked lump crab meat. They were light and airy and had a wonderful taste. The best we had the whole time we were in that area. The staff... More

Food was hot, good and inexpensive. Eggs on toast cooked just right as was the omelettes. Great place for a meal

My husband , son & I had dinner at the River Room on Sunday, Sept 14th. Although it was pretty close to 9, our waitress was very patient & did not rush us through our appetizers & entrees. She suggested the whole flounder & seafood kabob, chowder & a small Greek salad. My son thouroughly enjoyed the chowder & kabob,... More

My family and I were in Historic Yorktown looking for a place to eat and celebrate one of the people in our group 40th birthday. We by chance stumbled upon the Duke of York Restaurant which sits right by the waterfront. WOW! Our service was EXCELLENT, thanks to Diana S. and the rest of the staff on hand, and the... More

This is the best kept secret around for seafood. Never a wait and always great food. The desert is homemade. Try the coconut cream pie .

The food is really good here, although the restaurant itself is spartan. We had been told that the seafood is fresh and well prepared here so we gave that a try. The special that night was a shrimp and scallop made with chardonnay, tomatoes and garlic over linguine. Delicious. We had looked at other tables and the portions are very... More
