Great lunch

While we often have dinner here we seldom try it for lunch. We happened in the other day at lunchtime while in town and had a really good meal. I got the soft crab sandwich with coleslaw and both the crab and the salad were good. My husband got the fried catfish sandwich and it was perfectly... read more

We stopped in after walking through the Farmers Market and should've eaten at the market instead. The only good thing was the service. Both ladies who helped us were very friendly and quick. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich and side of pasta salad. The pasta was swimming in the watery sauce. The crab cake looked and tasted like... More

Some of the best seafood I've ever had in my life! Though the hotel was a rip off I was satisfied with my meal at the Duke Of York restaurant! My compliments to the chef

The food at the Duke Of York restaurant was pretty good, but overpriced. The thing we loved the most was being able to take food back to our room and enjoy a quiet dinner there. Certainly better than Yorktown pub!

While staying in Yorktown we ate here twice, once for lunch once for dinner. The food was superb! The omelet with shrimp, lobster and crab was awesome! Very friendly wait staff and good views of the river.

We had breakfast everyday for a week. By the end our waitress new exactly what we wanted. They have a good selection of items. Not just your standard fare. It seems very popular for locals which is also a good sign of it commitment to quality and service.

The River Room at "the Duke" is an institution in Yorktown. I eat dinner there once every 4-6 months. I was there last week on a really busy night with a friend. We started with fried calamari---cooked to perfection. Tomato sauce for dipping--adequate, nothing special. Huge portion! Then the delicious salad that is the tradition here, left over from the... I went to this restaurant because the now retired chef was the chef at Nicks Seafood Pavilion and I loved the Lobster Dien Bien Rice dish that was on that menu.

My husband and I have been here before we come once in awhile and special date nights. It was always great, but this time we came on a Tuesday night as we were in the area and saw it was open. Must say they must have a different Chef as the food was not what we are use to getting
