Description: Housed in one of the most splendid buildings in all of Ventura, complete with a remarkable 1920’s interior, Watermark brings sophisticated dining to the quintessential beach town of Ventura. Surrounded by small grower organic and sustainable farms, Watermark’s menu features locally inspired, contemporary American cuisine, featuring a winning combination of fish, steaks and other meat dishes, along with the freshest seasonal vegetables. Watermark’s creative and unique signature dishes and seasonal specials will be the highlights of the menu. The design of Watermark reflects its historical perspective – the color scheme is warm, golden and inviting with rust and green walls and golden marble floors with copper inlays. Iron and mica chandeliers, amber glass sconces and an under-lit gold onyx bar illuminate the room. Situated under beautifully preserved 1928 murals painted by renowned La Jolla-based artist Norman Kennedy, are both booth and table seating.

It has slipped a little since it first opened, but we always enjoy admiring the work that went into restoring the building. We love their Sunday breakfasts.

I went to the Watermark on Main Street for my birthday and while the rerstaurant is OK, they somehow missed the mark. My date had fish with a sauce on it that was not good and my date wouldn't eat it. My steak was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Since we are not big drinkers we shared a... More

Love the Watermark! I'm afraid to go there thinking it is too expensive, but I was wrong. I took my friends for breakfast Sunday, and they loved it. The waiter appologized because they had a huge party, and service may be slow. Service was not slow, it was wonderful. The food is always excellent! The complimentary champagne was a nice... More

A Beautifully restored building houses a great restaurant with excellent food. One side of the menu tends to classic chophouse; the other side a "farm to table" bonanza. We opted for the latter. House made ravioli with a veal filling in a light cream sauce was full flavored but not too heavy. We started with a greens & pear salad... More

Friday night, we were trying to go in just for a drink... There were two "Bouncers" at the door. Not only were they not friendly, they were down-right rude and inhospitable. In fact they refused to even acknowledge us.... They were too busy with their personal conversation about "going back to college & getting a degree". When we looked inside,... More

We went as a family to celebrate our eldest son's 24th birthday. Our salads, calamari, and crab cakes were delicious, as were the rib eye, New York, and veal. A lovely bottle of wine, very attentive staff, excellent live music, and time with my son at the bar afterwards made for a very enjoyable evening. The building, which I have... More

This last weekend was my 28th wedding anniversary. My wife said she wanted to go to the Watermark in Ventura. This is one of the secrets to a long and happy marriage - when your wife says lets go "here" , we go. Of course, prior to making the reservation I checked trip advisor. I was a little surprised at... This is suppose to be a very Posh "Upscale" restaurant & bar. I had been arguing w/ my friend to go here for several months, so for Valentine's we went. Fist let me tell you the good thing: The two young women who served us, were lovely: Rachel & Cassidy, very nice & delightful and I tipped them according to... More

A really great place for a "date night" dinner. Have a drink in the lounge at the top which has an outdoor patio looking out at the mountains above Ventura.

The Watermark is housed in an old bank building, I believe some of the items such as the vault door are still there. Lovely bar on the second floor they even had a "private" room that we were able to assemble in as we had a semi-large party with us(about 12 people) and we were able to laugh and talk... More
