I went with a group of friends to celebrate a BIG birthday. I told the hostess when I made the reservation that it was a special evening. We arrived and loved the venue, classic and elegant with beautiful architecture. They had what looked like a jazz trio for dinner entertainment. We went upstairs to a private balcony just beyond the... More

This establishment, housed in a landmark building in beautiful, historical downtown Ventura, will please the most discriminating customer. Aesthetically the place is a pleasure to just look at those beautiful ceilings, and imagine that you are entered a bygone era. The food is superb although it is on the pricey side. One lamentable thing is their limited hours of operation... More

Owner Mark Hartley insists Watermark dining offers great food at reasonable prices and compared to Los Angeles or nearby Santa Barbara that's true. Elegant setting and excellent food remarkable ambiance makes this great for your special evening out. But by the time I had a main course., (scallops) a salad and a glass of Sauvignon blanc my bill was getting... More

Went to the watermark on a Wednesday night with a large group of people. The restaraunt is beautiful on the inside (wooden spanish misson style) and the steaks were excellent. Good place to go.

Reviews of the Watermark are all over the graph. But, our experience on an August Saturday evening was exceptional. Four of us went to celebrate an important birthday and though service was a bit slow to start (we sent the waiter away until our party was complete - but we received a greeting & water as soon as we were... Very pleasant dinner, historic building and the kind of evening you would expect at a fine steak restaurant, except they have some very interesting dishes. Everything we had was wonderful Veal dish and Ribeye both outstanding. Good wine list with reasonably priced, good wines.

Our daughter made reservations for the four of us for brunch. She requested a booth by the window. The place was deserted. They brought us to a table with a booth on one side that is shared with others away from the window facing the wall. She said she requested a booth and the host said "we have reserved this... More

This is a fine restaurant, food is good, staff was competent, but it is pricey, The owner did a great job in adding the third floor and matched the existing historical building. They are working to have an upscale place in downtown and they should not be faulted for this, but it is not my cup-of-tea. Doorman (bouncers in suits)... More

Two years ago, I would have called Watermark one of Ventura's top restaurants and given it 5 stars across the board. I have no idea where its previous chef went but man, do I miss him! He made an awesome osso bucco. Watermark has always been on the pricey side for Ventura but now $30-$40 an entree is unjustifiable. For... More
