Great Mexican food in El Paso

When we visited the McGoffin house in El Paso our guide told us that the best Mexican food in El Paso was at the L & J Café so we decided to give it a try. At 2:30 in the afternoon it was packed with people. The food and the service were great.

The restaurant has been around for quite a long time, and has a unique ambiance. The Mexican food is average for El Paso, but is a must for tourists. The restaurant is next to the Concordia Cemetery, where the grave of the notorious John Wesley Hardin was laid to rest. A must stop for travelers!

This is a local favorite in El Paso where you will find any one from construction workers to lawyers all mixed in the same place. Lunch time is always busy, but is it not too long before you will be seated to a great meal. I personally love the ground beef tacos and gorditas, but can guarantee any plate is... More

We went twice while working in El Paso it was that good. The chile con queso was amazing, guacs delicious, burritos were tasty. Great meal for $10 without alcohol. Highly recommend it!

We heard this was the best mexican food in town and we were not disappointed! Its kinda in a sketchy area next to a cemetary but once your inside eating you forget all about it. The green chili chicken enchiladas are to die for. Great place!

I love this place! The food is the real thing and it doesn't get any better than this. The atmosphere is definitely old school and authentic. If you are in El Paso don't miss this place.

A bit of a trip to get to but the staff were friendly, they food was good and it has a nice feel. The portions are pretty generous so you may want to consider sharing or skipping appetizers.

The hole in the wall you are looking for! By far the best enchilada's that I have ever had. Lover their red ones the most. The chips and salsa are to die for. Oh, did I mention that you can buy their salsa to bring home? Their bean and cheese dip is awesome as well. Very reasonable priced as well.... More

Several locals have told us this restaurant has the best Mexican food in El Paso, but I disagree. It is average at best, the service is slow, the place is old and overcrowded, and the parking is difficult at best.
