I've been frequenting L & J for about 40 years and keep coming back! If you are into " Tex-Mex" or any other poor excuse for real Mexican food don't come here as this the real thing. Get there early if you don't want to wait!

L&J's is not much to look at even after recent renovations. What can not be disputed is the food is very good and very authentic. This is Mexican food at its best. The restaurant is frequented by many repeat customers as well as lots of visitors. Do not be turned off by it's location to a historic cemetery or the... More

We took an out of town family member there for dinner on a Friday night, not realizing how busy and how loud the bar would be. Still, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was SO delicious! I had chicken tacos and they were were perfect. We're definitely planning on going back- just not on a Friday night!

Friends took us to L&J when we first moved to El Paso . We were greeted by a line of Harley's parked outside. I would describe L & J as a local dive in the best sense of the word. The Mexican food is excellent and L & J quickly became our favorite. Beware that it's loud even though the... More

I work close to L&J so I go there quite often for lunch. The place is always busy but the kitchen turns out the food quickly and it is consistently good. As a traveler if you want to find some local flavor, you need to go to L&J, not only is it at a historic location with it's own unique... More

The food is a step above even the very good Mexican food in EP. The recipes are great, the service friendly and efficient, and the busy atmosphere makes for fun.

Tonight was my first visit. The chips were my favorite! Red salsa was ok green very hot but not a taste I like. Server was not tip top kinda slow. My entree was okay. Atmosphere was upbeat for a Monday nite.

We were in El Paso Mar 22nd and had asked a friend that has family here where we should eat. L and J Cafe is the place to go. The Queso is the best I have ever had. Marina was our waitress and made our visit the best it could be. Roman the manager that night gave us the background... More

The desk clerk at the hotel where we stayed recommended the L & J Cafe as the best Mexican restaurant in El Paso. We were a little apprehensive when we saw the place, but that is part of the experience. The food and service were excellent.
