Traditional mexican

They've been around for long time. Food is traditional if that's what you're looking for. Nothing spectacular and nothing wrong.

The food has remained unbeatable for more than 30 years. We made two visits during our recent three week stay in El Paso and only regretted we couldn't eat any more! We do miss the border music that used to be the norm, now frequently replaced by easy listening which is fine but takes the flavor out of Mexican. Also... More

The woman in the front desk was going to seat us but never did. We just left. This is the second time this happened. Do not go. They are very rude.

Horrible, horrible experience! My family and I went to Forti's last night for dinner and I should have known what it was going to be like the moment we walked in. There wasn't a door greeter or anyone at the front desk. I had to hunt down a waiter to find a table. The restaurant was relatively empty and all... More

If you're looking for a dining experience that involves neon sombreros, hipster margarita mixers, or full mariachi bands roaming around, this might not be your place. If you want delicious, authentic Mexican food served in a classy, low-key environment, look no further. Fortis opened up in 1976, five years after my family arrived in El Paso. It started small, but... More

This is a hidden Gem where the locals eat. The food is incredible. Everyone in our group (8) loved their food. Be sure not to miss the appetizer, "Queso Flameado". This is melted cheese with green chili peppers (not too hot). It is a family style appetizer. The server flames, mixes and serves it on tortillas at the table for... More

After thirty or more years, Forti's is still the best in town. A less than satisfactory visit last year must have been, as we hoped, just a single bad night. Everything we love about it was spot on again on this visit - great margaritas, extraordinary chili rellanos, soft gooey enchiladas, perfect tacos and fajitas. One member of our group... More

I was told about this place by a friend that had been here prior. It is off the path and looks out of place where it's situated but trust me it is amazing! I have been in El Paso for a week and this is the best place we have been too. The atmosphere is perfect. Decore is authentic and... More

Even if you live in Dallas, San Antonio or California; I'm sorry but you just won't get the kind of Mexican food you can find in New Mexico or El Paso. Forti's will serve you a great enchilada but make no mistake; they have the best Chile Relleno you will eat.

I went to this restaurant for lunch with a couple of old retired Border Patrol buddies. One of them recommended it as he has been there many times over several years. I wanted to sample the famous chiles rellenos. I ordered the combo #2B which included an enchilada, a tamal (no, it is NOT a tamale. Tamal is singular, tamales... More
