Wonderfully authentic

We visited for Sunday lunch at the recommendation of a friend, who advised us to order off the traditional Sichuan menu. We pointed to a double cooked fish filet & a spicy beef dish. I think they got both our orders mixed up. We received a whole fish in an amazing sauce with red pepper, ginger... read more

I recently visited Ollie's with two friends and left very disappointed. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated which was ok as they were busy. They eventually found us a table tucked away in a corner but forgot the first course of one of our group, serving it with his mains. My meal was average at best... More

I had a great, reasonable lunch at Ollie's twice during my recent visit to NYC. Good location near Times Square, and delicious lunch entries come with soup and tea for under $8. One quibble: the staff is not very personable or friendly.

I always stop at Ollie's whenever I travel to New York City. At peak times, the place is crowded and feels like there is no breathing room between tables, but the service is fast, and the prices are very reasonable (by Manhattan standards). They also have some very nice options for vegetarians: flavorful and spicy hot Szechuan tofu dishes and... More

We chose this restaurant as it always looked busy as we were walking past and overall I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very efficient and brought out water and green tea as soon as we sat down. They were always on hand, without being overbearing, to get us anything we needed. There was a varied menu and despite choosing... More

This is where we go for Chinese food outside of Chinatown when we're in New York City. We particularly love going there on Christmas Eve. (It's packed. Get there early.) Plenty of authentic dishes on the menu. I always use Dry Sautéed String Beans as my measure of a Chinese restaurant's quality and competency, and Ollie's string beans are about... More

I've been here a few times and the food was fantastic a few years back. Seems like it has gone down hill especially the servers. We felt like we were almost bothering them. Plates were plonked on to the table. Same experience with take out. Waited ages. Extremely rude lady at receiption desk. Won't bother agin. Awful. Food was ok,... More

I came here several years ago and remember it being much better. The hot and sour soup was good but the chili oil dumplings were disappointing as were Dan Dan noodles.

We were looking for a restaurant having just arrived in the city and stumbled upon Ollies. It was packed and we needed to wait a few minutes for a table. They specialize in Chengdu style Sichuan food, hot and spicy. If you are looking for something milder, try the Shanghai soup buns. They are large and tasty. All the noodle... More

We wanted Chinese/noodles close to the Hilton times square. Our concierge recommended Ollie's and we were not disappointed. The wonton soup was amazing. I could have eaten several bowls. The other items we had were good also. I had pepper steak that was supposed to be a bit spicy but it was very mild. my daughter had noodles and my... More

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
