I am a native New Yorker. But I no longer live here so I'm visiting and went to the city on a whim. Picked this restaurant. It was a winner. Small and quaint, but full of charm. With outside patio space. The food was delicious. It's worth going too.

Went on a Thursday night. The front of the restaurant is small (12 tables or so). Did not see the patio area, but my daughter said it was cute. We had sangria (yummy), the calamari appetizer, which was delish, and a perfect portion for 2 if you're starving, or 3 if you plan on dessert. I had the chuletas (grilled... More

A friend and I dined here last week. Despite rain, we had a dry spot in lovely back patio. Started with pork empanadas with tasty seasoning. Entrees were Pescado Miramar and Salmon Santa Clara--both flavorful though not what one thinks of as traditional Cuban cuisine. Server friendly and attentive.

Recommended by a friend, we stopped in with the family when visiting the City. We were not disappointed. All food was delicious and well presented. The shared cerviche and garlic shrimp appetizers hit the spot. The camarones al ajillo was especially delicious as were the paellas at the table. Mixing in the black beans they served the table added additional... More

I usually visit Havana Alma de Cuba once a month for their traditional comfort food and pleasant ambiance, including their cute back yard. Though not the most inventive, their dishes are well executed and served, including staples such as their tasty guacamole and yucca chips. One cannot go wrong with their meat dishes, including ropas and palomilla. Less so the... More

The atmosphere was better than the food. Steak and eggs were average. The yuca was soggy, not crisp. Also had saffron rice chicken dish. It needed a little more chicken and less rice. It should have had more olives / pickled roasted pepper on it to bring more of the ethnic flavor. I felt like I was no where special.... More

I had lunch at Havana Alma de Cuba with my son on a recent trip to New York. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing. My son had a pork chop dish which he said was one of the best things he's ever eaten. A definite stop for Cuban food in NYC.

Went for a group get-together on a Saturday night and everyone loved it. The food was so, so delicious! Every single serving from appetizers to dessert was very tasty. You felt very warm and cozy inside the place, like you were enjoying Cuban comfort food with family and friends. The drinks did not disappoint either, with mojitos, sangria, and various... More

Teetering on 2.5 stars but since it's the holiday season, I'm feeling generous so I'll bump it up to a 3. Two friends and I came in on a Saturday at noon with a reservation. Turns out, the reservation was completely unnecessary because the place was pretty much empty except for a table or two. It was probably still a... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
