The chefs table dinner was amazing

We were lucky enough to call for a reservation just as the monthly chef's table dinner was being offered. A price fix 6 course dinner with seasonal menu. Ours was all seafood with one dish better than the last. We sat at a bar in fornt of the main kitchen and watched all the food in the restaurant... read more

There is nothing fancy or pretentious about dell'anima. It is simply a cozy spot in Greenwich Village with outstanding Italian cuisine and attentive service. The house-made pastas are outstanding (the garganelli is a "must"), and the pollo al diavolo is a huge portion and one of the best I've found. The wine offerings are diverse, and the bar has a... I found myself in New York craving a good bowl of pasta and a good glass of wine late in the evening a few weeks ago. I figured I should venture back here and eat just that. I was really happy with the decision to return. I have a bowl of the tagliatelle served with a Bolognese meat sauce and... More

Excellent food and amazing wine choices. Remains one of my favorite places in NYC. Especially enjoy that the kitchen is open very late.

We were being hopeful I suppose in turning up here on a balmy Friday night without a booking & hoping to get a table. No luck- but after about 10 minutes we were offered a spot at the bar. The barman was helpful & let me taste a couple of wines before I chose the one I preferred. They were... More

Bottom line: it's a solid Italian spot with good pasta although I didn't think it was much better than other Italian choices in the West Village. Came here with cousin to catch up, around 6PM on a Thursday, they just opened and were empty so no delay getting seated. We chose to sit outside on the street which had a... More

Dell-Anima (“of the soul”) is one of our favourite, fun restaurants in downtown Manhattan. The place runs on high-octane whether it is the staff, the diners or the combination thereof. If you can get a seat at the “Chefs’ Counter”, then you really are in for a treat as the three active, culinary creators join in the action…buy them a... More

The restaurant was very close to where we were staying. Not having booked we got a table for two just before 7pm. We had the brushette to start with the excellent avocado and the confit if onions and garlic (which was fantastic but very garlicky!!). We had a prima pasta which was home made and excellent. Wine is expensive but... More

i just returned from enjoying an exquisite meal with my daughter. We sat at the chef's counter where we had the added pleasure of watching the hard working chefs create the most gorgeous and delicious food. This place was recommended to me by a local New Yorker who I was talking to in a coffee shop. Thank you whoever you... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
