If you're in New York and you like real Italian food Dell'Anima is the place to go. We were very fortunate to be seated at the chef's table and got to taste a sampling of many of the item menus. The charred squid salad was outstanding, most of the pastas are homemade and absolutely delicious. My son got the bone... More

Recommended to us by friends who live in Manhatten. Not one for those wanting a quiet spacious dining experience but fantastic for everything else. Food was excellent, service friendly, quirky menu choices cooked in view of diners. Place was packed from start to finish but considering it is small, not surprising. Advisable to book ahead and enjoy a great meal!!

Went here without realizing the same group was also behind another place we love (L'Artusi). After dining here, not at all surprised that this spot was also terrific. The space is smallish but never felt cramped. Our server was nice and knowledgeable (Bella). I had the bone marrow appetizer that was superb and my wife had the endive salad with... More

Excellent pastas the pappardelle with mushrooms and the spaghetti with the Calabria peppers was equally good. The quail, octopus and endive salad were spectacular. Excellent food and wine but the ambiance is quite noisy.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Best to sit at the counter watching all the food cooking. Don't forget the brussel sprouts. They are the best.

I love Dell'Anima. Small, cosy, wonderful menu, no loud music, good service, excellent wine list with many affordable choices, accommodating staff and really delicious food. What is there not to love ? The charred octopus is amazing, the sweetbread so tasty and the bone marrow........clean distinct flavors, feels like home cooking with a good selection of earthy pasta dishes and... More

We had a trio of bruschetta and loved the cannellini and the avocado options--really unique spreads with thick bread hat went well with our delicious Italian wine. Then we moved on to black/white pasta with lump crab and bucatini arrabiata -- both were perfect sharing positions for 2 and the taste was really nice. Pasta was cooked perfectly. We finished... Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
