Satisfies my craving for a hearty burger

As much as I hate their long lines, I haven't been disappointed by their burgers and fries. Always hit the spot!

This original location is a take out shack... you could eat your grub at the multiple tables in the park. The line is always long, but the food always delivers. I'm from Socal and I actually like this a lot more than In n Out... too bad they don't have this in the west coast.

Queue's around the corner for this fast food joint. Great burgers and crinkle cut fries, lovely milk shakes too. I had the field mushroom/beef burger combo it was lovely. We went there as we googled best burger joint in New York and it came up.

You must try the bell pepper and bacon. Double Smoke House(?) this is the best burger to try here. The best thing about Shake Shack? ORGANIC! ;)

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the entire city. Yes, the lines are out of control, but that's for a good reason. This place rules. Burgers cooked they way you order, super greasy with a beer in the beautiful setting of Madison square park.

Go, get a burger and a shake! Check off on your NYC bucket list! :) Line up can be long but it goes really quick. So much so we waiting in the pouring rain regardless to get in and it was still worth it!

My family and I had just visited the Freedom Tower and Ground Zero and I think this is the Shake Shack close to that, I am not sure. The food was really good. It was freezing outside and the wind just about did us in. We were glad to finally find a bathroom since NY City doesn't have too many... More

Best Chain Burger and possibly just the best burger ever. I work around the corner and eat here often in the summer and then when I get the craving for them. I can't wait for them to come down the jersey shore. Fries ore good, shakes are great, dogs are good, and the location in MS Park has beer.

Maybe for NYC these are great burgers for a reasonable price, however I was not overly impressed. We have Culver's in the Midwest, and there burgers are much better. The burgers at Shake Shack were very greasy. The fries were good, but nothing special.

it's sort of fast food, but with excellent quality products. There are several in town... never a disappointment

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
