Excellent burger, decent prices, great scenery!

This is in Greenwich Village area in the lovely Madison Square Park. It is open courtyard seating and we had AMAZING weather for August. There were lines as this is a very popular joint with locals and tourists alike. But they move you through quickly, then give you a pager to let you know when to... read more

Find me this quality burger, shake and location in NYC for less than you can get at shake shack ? because i can't. Great burger (The shack stack with portabello mushroom on top of the famous shack burger is particularly amazing), great shake, great location. its just perfect on so many levels ! even if you don't like it. its... Fantastic burgers, i had a double Smokeshack and my wife a Shroomburguer. The fries are awesome and the lemonade ice chilled (34º celcius that day). Love the park and the squirrels.

Delicious burger and tasty fries, waited a short while but not too long. Plenty of space to sit down. Burger was moist and cheese sauce was much nicer than the plastic cheese you normally get in the U.S. Then for the whipped custard - yum! All in the 'shadow' of the iconic flatiron building with the Empire State in the... More

Whenever I'm in Manhattan, I got for a Shake Shack, knowing there is going to be a line, but it's totally worth it. This time, the situation was even worse - the longest line ever due to a festival near by. BUT (!), the line was going away so fast and the orders were flying around! Thank you Shake Shack!... More

This is not gourmet burgers. But if you fancy a nice burger, better than McDonald's but cheaper than café burgers, this is the place to go. It was surprisingly good. Their shake is pretty good as well.

Was impressed by the meal, the fast delivery of the food and the popularity of the place - with became obvious once you experienced the first mentioned things.

I could write about this place all day. For those who want the brief version, you will not eat a better burger... stop reading and go now! Highlight of my nyc trip. So glad the pre trip research paid off. Ordered the double shack burger and fries for myself, single shack burger for the wife. Working from the outside in,... More

Make sure you don't get it wrong this is Madison Park and not Madison square. In the season full of people all around very crowded and yet worth the line. If you are for the drinks remember the C line I added two pictures to illustrate

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
