Can't beat the original

The lines are well worth it. Still the greatest burger on the planet. Make sure to stick to the shack burger or the double, as the original is usually always the best.

If you visit Shake Shack you MUST go to the outdoor Madison Square take out and enjoy the ambience of the Flat Iron District and the fun vibe of the park around you. The burgers and shakes are delicious - perfect 'welcome to NYC' meal - and the crinkle cut fries are fab. Top tip: one portion of fries is... More

Love this location! Great burgers. The line was a little long but it moves pretty fast. Also, the line was long no matter the time of day.

This is the first Shake Shack opened and in my opinion is still the one were the serve the best food. You are right in the park (madison square park) close to pretty much everything. I tried any burger there so cannot suggest anyone specific, just go for the one it attracts you the most. Most important, don't forget to... More

Great burgers and shakes, as the name would suggest. The location is cool - in Madison Square Park. Popular year round.

When in New York it's worth swinging by and grabbing a burger at Shake Shack. The line might look way to long but it moves surprisingly fast and the burgers are great. Worth a visit after dark when the lights the are strung up gives it all a even more special feel. Perfect place to just have a good relaxing... More

I dragged my boyfriend here on our first day in New York and he was slightly horrified that I had brought him to a fast food burger place with such a big queue but I convinced him to stay and was it worth it! Burgers were amazing, so tasty and the cheese fries were soooo good! Would recommend it to... More

Queue up, scavenge for a table, then find chairs! Put the effort in because it's all worth it for the burger - the meat is sensational! The outdoor setting is cute too although I hear it's even nicer at night when it's all lit up.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
