I'll be back y'all!

Good bbq at affordable prices. There was plenty of meat on my sandwich and the cole slaw was very good (and I'm picky)! The potato salad was just okay. The waiter was very nice.

Had to find a conveniently located restaurant that is quintessentially American for a group of 12 with kids. This is such a great place for a group. Were seated downstairs where the stage is with a live group playing. Picked up more meat from the server than I have ever seen on one table before. All of it delicious. The... More

When we were seated the waiter explained the ordering process. We went up to select our food options and found unhelpful and unfriendly staff who weren't at all interested in answering our questions and helping us choose. The guy who served the meat didn't even ask how much we wanted, he just did it and charged for it! Would think... More

3.5 stars I WANT to like Hill Country so bad. As a native to the actual hill country area of Texas, I want to love this place. I've been a few different times and been to different locations but it doesn't soothe my Texan heart. The brisket is good...really good. I always get lean and theirs was good without falling... I'm not a BBQ fanatic, but my husband is.. We were looking for somewhere close to the Garden, prior to a concert, so gave it a try. I had read the reviews and knew about the self service, so that was fine.. I liked the idea of paying by the oz.. but unfortunately with many items you can only get... More

What can I say ? I did not expect such an experience in New York. You choose the meat (and its weight) and they cook it in front of you. When I went there, there was a suckling pig behind the counter and it looked yummy. Incredible experience. It is delicious and the atmosphere is quite unusual in the Big... More

The meat is definitely the star here, and it's really rather good. My friend had chicken that was delicious. I don't know what possessed me to order the pricey prime rib in a barbeque place and while it wasn't bad, it tasted like barbeque, not prime rib. Duh. Nearly $28 for two rather large slices which by New York standards... More

We went there at dinner. The restaurant is specific, as you go to buy the meat and the side disches at the "Market table" and then you take them to your table to have your dinner. Food is at good level, but not the side disches (good, but not excellent and somehow limited choice: 3 or 4). The place is... More

I've been to Hill Country several times. The key is to get moist brisket (super fatty!). Spicy sausage is a must. Pork ribs are good. Most other items are OK. Save room for the peanut butter and jelly cupcake. Soooooo good. Service is consistently excellent and the price is fair for what you're getting. Not cheap, but fair.

My boyfriend is a big meat eater and was very excited to try this place. I was skeptical (not a red meat eater, so chicken was my only choice + side dishes). I was actually blown away by the bbq chicken, it was very tasty and fresh. My friend liked his brisket, but found the ribs a bit chewy (prefers... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
