Decent experience

I went to Melba's based on its reputation & the recommendations of family. After a long wait I was finally seated. The atmosphere was clearly comfort type soul food joint, and the menu lived up to just that. I had chicken & waffles which was good but not great. Prices seemed about right for what... read more

This resturant was very tight. We did not stay for dinner as planned because when we arrived the only availiable table was very close to the door which was constantly opening and letting in the artic cold. I would have liked to try the waffles and cnicken. Next time I will arrive earlier.

Great food, nice atmosphere. The Sangria was very nice. I don't eat meat but the fried chicken my friend had looked and smelled so good I wanted some! She said it was the best she has had in a long time...

Wife and I went to Melba's in December. We had read about it online and wanted to try it out. We stayed in Times Square, took about a 10-15 minute ride up to 116th stop. Walked two blocks. The service was amazing. Nia was our waitress and she was great. Wife got egg nog waffles and a mimosa and loved... More

Loved my visit to melba's with a group of friends! Great service, excellent food and good cocktails. Reasonably priced too. I had the jumbo shrimp with Mac & cheese, highly recommend! Desert was pound cake, lovely & bloody Marys were good too. I would definitely go back!

Our host recommended Melba's, I'm glad she did, food is fantastic, well sized portions and friendly staff. The mac and cheese is almost as good as the one my daughter makes. That's some compliment.

Staying in Harlem with friends, I was excited for some good soul food especially fried chicken. We walked many blocks in the sweltering heat(passing Jacob Restaurant in the first few) and found Melba's to be welcoming, airy and with a table for two. The waiter was pleasant and brought water right away. I had been craving chicken and waffles and... More

Took my best friend here yesterday for her birthday. The first thing we did of course was order drinks, well it took about 20 mins for us to get them. Wasn't really sure what was going on... Finally got our drinks and proceeded to order our apps and entree. Well it too so long to get our appetizers that we... More

Excellent! Excellent!! Excellent!!! Celebrated my wife's birthday at Melba's with several friends. The atmosphere was welcoming. The service was personable and hospitable. The food was delicious! The cat fish, fried chicken and Mac n cheese were favorites of several in our party. Personal note to Melba...Thank You for making the celebration extra special! Love you!!
