The food was sooo good. The place is small but we did not have a wait which was great. You are sitting pretty close to others but that's ok. I would go here all the time if I was closer!

Fried Chicken smothered in gravy was to die for. I paired it with mac/cheese and collard greens. Thought I was in South Carolina. We had a couple of late arrivers but the wait staff never pressured us. We shared a number of appetizers (catfish strips, spring rolls and fried calamari). the last was OK but the first two were top... More

It's 11:15 and I'm ready for some food!!! I just left church and walked into Melba's for some chicken and waffles and lo and behold empty tables everywhere!!! Great!!! Not so great because the hostess tells us there is a wait because there are reservations for 11:30am. I look around and there are at least 25 empty seats and she... More

From being greeted at the door, and seated in the intimate space, it is easy to settle in and to just relax and enjoy. I feel greedy as my mind... More

I've been here so many times for the same thing: Chicken and Waffles and every so often macaroni and cheese on the side. So Yummy! I've only tried a couple of places in NYC for chicken & waffles, but the eggnog waffles make Melba's the best, I can hardly describe it, you have to try it. And their sangria is... More

I love Melba's! The best soul food in NYC!!! Each time I visit Melba's I fall in love with the ambiance and food all over again. Great and attentive service. The drinks are all so tasty, the Margaritas and The Harlem Iced tea are amazing! Their fried chicken is so tasty, seasoned just right. I also enjoy the grilled shrimp!... More

We are visiting NY . And just a walk away we visited Melba's . Recommended for good southern soul food. We visited last night. We loved it. Great buzzy atmosphere, music a bit loud as we couldn't talk but our wonderful waitress turned it down. Great cocktails and great service, so friendly but professional. Food: Appetizers ' we were four... More

I celebrated my one year wedding anniversary at Melba's for Sunday Brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. We were greeted warmly by Melba herself and her waitress Cheri was a pleasure. There were mistakes but they made me as a customer feel like I was at home so with any errors quickly corrected, I didn't feel the least like complaining.... More
