Wonderful Greek Bakery in New York City

We went to Poseidon on my son's birthday for some of his favorite galaktoboureko. It was delicious, as was the baklavah, spanakopita, poppy seed danish and apricot roll. This is a wonderful family owned Greek bakery and we will certainly stop by again on our next visit to New York City.

For Greek and Austrian baked treats, this is the place. Featured on our food on foot tour. Been there since 1923 over four generations of baking history.

I've been going to Poseidon Bakery for over twenty years for their authentic Greek pastries. I especially like the spanakopita (spinach and feta pie). You can get a hot one to go or take home a bagful. I also like the little cocktail sized one -- you can buy a tray of them, frozen, and bake at home, or pre-order... More

I would definitely recommend going to this bakery, the owner was very friendly and personable. She was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us (visitors to New York) very good recommendations. The food was delicious and all homemade.

Second only to my own Mother's and Thea Dede's Greek pastries is this 93yr old Bakery with a reputation for creating Greek Pastries that fail to disappoint. My Grandfather(Papou) from Plomari brought me here over 50yrs ago and I still remember the sweet smells and free samples of those wonderful treats. Television and Movie Celebrity customers adorn the walls a... More

The bakery is nummy. The lovely lady at the counter was so kind. The prices are a tad high *$4.50 for one pastry but the quality is beyond delicious. I'd love to come back again.

We stopped in here as we were wandering around NYC last week and enjoyed the pastries we purchased from this old school bakery. We took some back to our hotel to have as a late night snack and they were just as wonderful as they were when we purchased them earlier in the day. I have never seen such a... More

We tried their baked goods at the Ninth Avenue Festival, and the Spinach pie was the best I have ever eaten! The phylo dough was flaky and the spinach, feta cheese, and other ingredients were the best. Also, their desserts are worth the trip.

This Greek bakery has both savory and sweet classic Greek goods. There are no frills here, just an authentic bakery with a warm, old school, family vibe. They let the treats speak for themselves. And, though some items hard to pronounce, they do...in Greek, of course.  I've had many Baklavas in my day, and, I figured that an authentic Greek... More

We went for some Baklava, which was good, but didn't quite stand up to our memories of the delicious treat in Greece, however we also each got one of these little delicious shortbread cookies that literally melted in your mouth. There is no space in the bakery to sit, so you have to take your treats to go, but workers... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
