Cozy, hip, romantic spot in an antique carriage house, AMAZING food!!

We were fortunate enough to eat here last saturday night at the suggestion of a friend who lives in NY. AMAZING!! Probably only seats 25-30 people, which is so refreshing in a city like NY. You finally don't feel like one in a million, and not at all like a tourist. We had the Mushroom... read more

At this restaurant with three dining levels, I ate at the ground level, at the bar (see photo) because they did not have a table available. I have submitted a photo of the bar, the bar dining area, and the upstairs dining area (the nicest of the three levels). The service at the bar was slow and indifferent. I started... More

Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! We were warmly greeted by the staff and seated at a wonderful table by the upstairs window. We started with the squash soup and Hamachi and continued with the short ribs and chicken. All were well prepared and seasoned. Ended with an excellent creme brûlée. Will return!

The House is most special for its ambience. That's the main reason we returned for our third visit in a year. But it's also got great food and service. Four of us enjoyed a great Saturday night dinner. I had the Hamachi Crudo, which was perfect, followed by the Farro Risotto. Others in the party had the Mushroom Fricasse, Bibb... More

Located in a wonderful historic house near Gramercy Park, dinner is a cozy affair. The menu is not extensive but is quite original. Tried the butternut squash soup with almonds which was excellent for a stormy rainy night. Afterwards the duck was sublime, juicy and tender as well as slightly crunchy at the edge. Desserts will have to be tried... More

The House is one of the most special restaurants in Manhattan. A converted carriage house from the 19th century, The House has a charming interior and friendly staff that make it the perfect setting for a romantic night for two or a large gathering of friends. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique New York City experience!

We stumbled on this place by accident, and was really glad we did. There are two floors in this small restaurant, we sat upstairs. The menu is short, straightforward and the food is good quality, comfort style home cooking. Good value and nice friendly service. My only criticism is the really small and very close by toilet with a glass... More

I took my girlfriend out for dinner. I Choose this restaurant based on the reviews and because i wanted a unique place with a romantic feel. It was definitely unique and romantic however since its a small 2 story restaurant you may end up being very close to other patrons. that sometimes can take the romance part away. food was... More

We had dinner here, I chose this restaurant after seeing it in several guides and having read some reviews. A pretty building with 3 floors, we were upstairs where there was also a bar and as a result was noisy. This floor felt very cramped with little space to move. Nevertheless, this restaurant had a nice feel to it and... More
