This is becoming our 'go to' place for excellent Italian food in NYC. The menu has some standards, some innovative dishes & something for everyone. No scene, no A-list celebs, just friendly staff, terrific patio and reliably delicious meal. If the weather is bad make a reservation because the dining room is small.

Have eaten here about ten times and am always pleasantly surprised how good their food is. The vegetable dishes were as good as I have ever had.

Sit in the rear patio. Excellent appetizers, eggplant parm, calamari, ,etc. Entrees were fine, but not extraordinary. Very friendly service.

Recommended by a colleague and great reviews on TripAdvisor, I had high hopes for this restaurant and they were met. I had a seat in the garden area which was very charming and it really made it feel like a neighbourhood restaurant. Both my starter (asparagus fries) and pasta dish were excellent. Not too heavy on sauce but the flavours... More

We came here solely based on TripAdvisor reviews and were well rewarded. It's unprepossessing from the outside in a rather shabby neighbourhood and the décor inside is nothing to write home about either. But the food and wine were out of this world and the service was a perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness. The fried asparagus and the duck... More

I took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day dinner and it was excellent. We had the asparagus fries which were really tasty with the sauce. My girlfriend had the duck ravioli which was very good and I had the spaghetti carbonara. I like the fact that it was a small place and was pretty packed for Valentines Day. The menu... More

Very small restaurant and cozy atmosphere. Service was nice. The dishes were all just somewhat bland (and we've had these dishes at many authentic Italian restaurants). The wine by the glass, however, is a great deal. The wines by the glass were surprisingly reasonably priced for NYC, was good quality, and was well more than a glass each.

Cozy Italian restaurant, excellent food, reasonable prices, brick wall decor, wine list a little steep but I can recommend Nero D'Avila from Sicily, one of my favorite wines. Apparently has a garden in back. If you don't already know it, Avenue B prices are becoming like uptown. Interesting dishes, well-prepared, very congenial.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
