Max is small. It's a long narrow space with a few tables in a window in front of the bar, some tables on the ground floor and a few more on a raised loft. The food is homey and always good. They made me remember why I like pan seared cod fish. There are some staple menu items like Mom's... More

If porcini ravioli is something you would ever consider ordering, then order that at Max. Between me and my boyfriend we have gotten it dozens of times. Delicious. The beet and goat cheese salad is great. Other pastas and various items on the specials menu that I've had were very good. Anchovies can be a bit too salty, but I... More

We went there last Friday evening - 4 adults, 1 child, and an infant. The place is 'intimate', that is small, but in a good way. Good Italian fare. Interesting specials - I had the Gnocchi which was quite good and more than I could eat. Wait staff was accommodating, friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

We were looking for a good Italian restaurant that was close to the Tribeca Performing Arts and came across Max while searching on line. It's a great little place with an authentic ambience, very good foods, a pre-performance fixed price meal with a large variety of choices, friendly service and very reasonable prices. The Halibut was great as was the homemade... Sullen service, terrible food and surly management...will never return. There is really no reason to return to a place that I've enjoyed in the past. Things have clearly changed.

A hidden treasure in TriBeCa- Visited recently with two friends for lunch. We shared the "Caprese" which melted in our mouths and was perfectly complimented with fresh crusty Italian Bread . I enjoyed the Asparagus Mozzarella Ravioli special while friends correctly chose the Ravioli ai Porcini & Spaghetti del Marina which was the highlight of the three. Service was friendly,... More

Great food, served in a good atmosphere by friendly staff. We dropped in without a booking on the Saturday night and were served more or less straight away. Unfortunately our booking made on that night for the next Monday night hadn't been logged on the restaurant system, but following some discussion between the restaurant staff we were given a table.... After a couple of delicious bespoke cocktails at Silver Lining we headed to Max on the suggestion of the bartender. It was a perfect spot for a nice dinner without the kids. Not too uptight and not too casual. Service was quiet and efficient. We enjoyed calimari, pizza and eggplant parm with the Brunello di Montalcino. Perfecto!

We stumbled on this place after visiting ground zero. The day was absolutely freezing and it was a public holiday, so not much was open. We were early for lunch so we got to choose where we wanted to sit so we sat right at the front window in the warmth and what little sun there was. The food is... More

I've been to Max three times now and the food has always been consistent. You have a variety of pasta choices, a limited choice of salads and other entrees. My most recent visit was during a weekday lunch hour. The restaurant is small and fills up fast so if you have a large party it is better to make reservations... More
