Simple but effective

Had breakfast here on a Saturday morning. Not too busy, efficient service, great value food that was tasty and filing. Coffee was excellent. Pancakes were thick and fluffy. Bacon was crispy. Plenty of syrup. Didn't have to wait long for the food nor the bill. Just what we wanted!

I went to this diner because it had received numerous great reviews from Trip Advisor. i had a very friendly waiter and my grilled salmon was really okay, but the sides were awful. Mashed potatoes, which the waiter swore were real (I'm sorry, I'm Irish and don't tell me the potatoes were real), and chopped spinach, which tasted like it... More

The service was quick despite the number of people jammed in the joint. The food was great. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon cooked just right. Nothing fancy and the price was fair, two things I appreciate.

I visited twice and had pancakes and eggs, very good. Not the place to order cappuccino (which they charge for like an independent coffee shop). Friendly service (Angelo, I think).

we were staying at the Shelburne hotel and we spotted this diner which became our 'local' for brekky and dinner on a number of nights. Best Breakfast in NYC as far as we are concerned and we wanted to contribute to the local businesses. It was worth it !!

We ate here every day - breakfast twice and lunch on our last day. Food was GREAT and staff friendly and efficient. Would recommend the Eggs, bacon and potatoes, the French toast and the Steak special with Pita bread. All the meals look too big to finish but they are too delicious not to!

Ate here three times over the course of my stay in NY. Other than NYs affinity for potatoes at breakfast, which I can only attribute to being a cheap plate filler, Scotty's is your typical diner. The eggs are good, as are the waffles and bacon. The breakfast sausage was fairly bland...me being used to southern, spicy sausage. But the... More

We spent the morning watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and when it came to evening realised we hadn't thought about where we were going to eat. After leisurely wandering the streets for a while we passed Scotty's and decided to give it a try. I tried the Philly Cheese Steak and my wife tried the Greek Salad. The food was... More

I've only had breakfast here, but they're open early in the morning and stay open until late in the evening. Prices are good, service is fast, the coffee is strong. When I asked them to crisp up the home fries, they did. What more do you want from a diner?

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
