Description: Our flagship location opened its doors on First Avenue in 1984 and was bestowed with a glowing, two-star review from The New York Times. From the moment you arrive, old world charm permeates your dining experience through authentic Mexican colors and rustic folk art. Traditional amate gods greet you at the front entrance and brightly colored papel picado hangs from the ceiling. Corn tortillas are made on site and an exposition grill further seduces your senses. With its warm ambiance and outstanding cuisine, this Rosa Mexicano location has remained a perennial New York favorite for over 20 years.

I've had far better Mexican food in cheaper places. They raved over the guacamole and to be honest, I make better myself. I've had better margaritas elsewhere and for a Mexican restaurant we didn't even get a margarita glass.

We went there for dinner, and did not find the food, service or drinks as impressive as some of your reviews led us to believe. In addition, this is the first Mexican restaurant that I have encountered where the waiters have trouble understanding Spanish, ... It was fine as a neighborhood place and we were in good company, but surely... More

This is the 2nd time we have dined at Rosa. Great Mexican food, especially the guacamole starter - top notch. Good service tops off a great Mexican experience.

The restaurant is a great place to experience Mexican food. The menu is extensive, the staff friendly and the food tastes great, however drinks are pricy for what you get. We had the guacamole to start and they chop up the avocados in front of you.

Go for the guacamole! It's large, it's made from scratch right in front of you and it tastes amazing. The margaritas were very good and so was the main course. They didn't have much vegetarian on the menu but substituted beans in the dish i wanted with no problems. A great meal. It's a large place but they pack the... More

Visiting a friend in Manhattan for the weekend, and Rosa Mexicana is literally a half block from his flat. The outside of the restaurant looks dated but given how busy it was on a Saturday night I don't think they rely on curb appeal to attract customers. First, the restaurant had my favorite tequila in the world, Gran Centenario Anejo.... More

Although the food was beyond fresh and great, the service was super nice! Attentive, authentic, welcoming and gracefully. Now there is a restaurant who manages to keep its real origin food, even place sombrero on the wall, while keeping the place dinner - dignified! The place is expensive yes, but it's nicely decorated, tortillas are being made in an open... More

If you are tired of the tortilla and beans fare at 95% of the Mexican places, try out Rosa. Guac made at your table is excellent and menu is creative and tasty. Caution, margaritas are strong.

Family / tourist Mexican. The food was Ok food, the service was ok - nothing extraordinary. The rosa Mexican restaurant by union square was far better, but that is 3 years ago, so perhaps that has also lost some of its charm.

Overall this is a good Mexican restaurant... not tex-mex... good mole and the best guacamole in town - fresh and tasty. Drinks are ok, nothing to rave about.
