Favorite Rosa Mexicano Location

I've visited many Rosa Mexicano locations (Lincoln Center, Union Square, Miami) but this was definitely my favorite. Unlike the other locations that feel commercialized, the First Avenue restaurant is much smaller and quieter. The service was great, they have a great selection of tequila, and the... read more

We were in town for a wedding and stayed the weekend. We were exploring Manhattan and happened on Rosa Mexicano when working our way back across the Queensboro bridge. First of all it seemed to be filled with mostly locals (always a good sign) and we were a little dressed down and run down from walking around all day (no... More

Rosa Mexicano started out as half the size (corner only) it is now, and Josefina the original owner, was there to hand out snacks to those waiting in line. They started the Guacamole made at the table craze and the recipe was a hot item. They made their own tortillas as they still do, and the pomegranate Margarita was there... More

Simply the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. The guacamole without comparison. To be honest I was totally full after the guacamole and chips course, but still enjoyed every bit of the next course. Rolled myself out of the restaurant a very happy man. Impossible to be disappointed if you like good food.

Really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. There guacamole is the best we have had. All food is fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We felt we got our monies worth. The portions are big as well. We will return again when in that neighborhood.

This place is almost always packed because it serves excellent, freshly made tableside guacamole and has a great vibe. The food isn't taco/enchillada/tostado typical, though they have versions of all of these, but more refined Mexican food. Prices reflect their vision as well, not cheap though reasonable for what they give you.

My daughter and I ate here a few nights ago on the recommendation of our hotel, and found it to be pretty good.. The tableside guacamole was great, the ceviche very good and the nachos not so great.. For some reason the service got very slow in the middle… Something went wrong.. but they were nice about it and offered... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
