Description: Our flagship location opened its doors on First Avenue in 1984 and was bestowed with a glowing, two-star review from The New York Times. From the moment you arrive, old world charm permeates your dining experience through authentic Mexican colors and rustic folk art. Traditional amate gods greet you at the front entrance and brightly colored papel picado hangs from the ceiling. Corn tortillas are made on site and an exposition grill further seduces your senses. With its warm ambiance and outstanding cuisine, this Rosa Mexicano location has remained a perennial New York favorite for over 20 years.

We went to Rosa Mexicano on 1st Avenue on a Wednesday evening and I was surprised at how quiet it was. The food was good and the service equally so but it lacked atmosphere. The signature frozen pomegranate martini is a must try but if you want an evening that's a little bit more lively, I would recommend going to... More

It seems to be a rather small restaurant right at the corner of 58th and First Avenue, but it is much larger than it appears. Different smaller rooms means that no one is overcrowded, and that permits every patron to enjoy all of the food at a more leisurely pace. When I made the reservation, I asked (for one of... More

Excellent guacamole made fresh at the table. You can pick how spicy you like it. Really you go here for the guacamole. The entrees are generically Mexican. Nothing special. The place is always crowded with a lively ambience.

Delicious guacamole with beautiful serving, pomegranate margaritas and friendly atmosphere! What else needed? Great location as well if you don't want to leave Manhattan. I went there by reco of a friend and left totally (full) happy! :) Hasta pronto!

Loved the decor and the space, but prices can be on the high side. Wish that the margaritas were served in real margarita glasses, but the guac was very good and the costilla de res (beef short rib enchilada) was delicious, though lacking some extra punch!

I've had far better Mexican food in cheaper places. They raved over the guacamole and to be honest, I make better myself. I've had better margaritas elsewhere and for a Mexican restaurant we didn't even get a margarita glass.

We went there for dinner, and did not find the food, service or drinks as impressive as some of your reviews led us to believe. In addition, this is the first Mexican restaurant that I have encountered where the waiters have trouble understanding Spanish, ... It was fine as a neighborhood place and we were in good company, but surely... More

This is the 2nd time we have dined at Rosa. Great Mexican food, especially the guacamole starter - top notch. Good service tops off a great Mexican experience.

The restaurant is a great place to experience Mexican food. The menu is extensive, the staff friendly and the food tastes great, however drinks are pricy for what you get. We had the guacamole to start and they chop up the avocados in front of you.

Go for the guacamole! It's large, it's made from scratch right in front of you and it tastes amazing. The margaritas were very good and so was the main course. They didn't have much vegetarian on the menu but substituted beans in the dish i wanted with no problems. A great meal. It's a large place but they pack the... More
