Reliable high quality Mexican food. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The cocktails are great too.. Loved the guacamole which is prepared just in front of you. Book in advance
We had 6pm reservations, and were seated promptly even though 1 of our party had not arrived. our waiter was very accomodation and made us some of the Best Guacamole that I have had, And the Shrimp Appetizer was out of this world. The drink menu was extensive and everything we tried was exceptional. I had the ribs that were... More
Coming from southern California with an abundance of excellent Mexican restaurants, we were a bit hesitant to try south of the border fare in NYC. But, we had gotten such a good recommendation on Rosa Mexicano on First Ave., we thought we'd give it a try. We got there a bit early for dinner (NYC standards!) and were seated promptly... More
Greath authentic atmosphere and excellent food. Especially enjoyed the guacamole prepared right at our table and the selection of good tequilas in the drink list. This is definitely a restaurant we will visit next time we are in New York.
My wife and I were the first customers that visited Rosa Mexicano when it opened. We ate there frequently and became very good friends with Mrs. Howard, the owner. She would always surprise us with new dishes to taste. Start with pomegranite margaritas, table side guacamole and tingas when on the menu. Main dishes you could die for are the... More
We went to Rosa Mexicano on 1st Avenue on a Wednesday evening and I was surprised at how quiet it was. The food was good and the service equally so but it lacked atmosphere. The signature frozen pomegranate martini is a must try but if you want an evening that's a little bit more lively, I would recommend going to... More
It seems to be a rather small restaurant right at the corner of 58th and First Avenue, but it is much larger than it appears. Different smaller rooms means that no one is overcrowded, and that permits every patron to enjoy all of the food at a more leisurely pace. When I made the reservation, I asked (for one of... More
Excellent guacamole made fresh at the table. You can pick how spicy you like it. Really you go here for the guacamole. The entrees are generically Mexican. Nothing special. The place is always crowded with a lively ambience.
Delicious guacamole with beautiful serving, pomegranate margaritas and friendly atmosphere! What else needed? Great location as well if you don't want to leave Manhattan. I went there by reco of a friend and left totally (full) happy! :) Hasta pronto!
Loved the decor and the space, but prices can be on the high side. Wish that the margaritas were served in real margarita glasses, but the guac was very good and the costilla de res (beef short rib enchilada) was delicious, though lacking some extra punch!
