Description: Our flagship location opened its doors on First Avenue in 1984 and was bestowed with a glowing, two-star review from The New York Times. From the moment you arrive, old world charm permeates your dining experience through authentic Mexican colors and rustic folk art. Traditional amate gods greet you at the front entrance and brightly colored papel picado hangs from the ceiling. Corn tortillas are made on site and an exposition grill further seduces your senses. With its warm ambiance and outstanding cuisine, this Rosa Mexicano location has remained a perennial New York favorite for over 20 years.

Ate here again on a recent trip and were not disappointed. Delicious margaritas slipped down well as did the Sangria. The home made guacamole is superb - made to your level of spiciness at the table and served with fresh chips and tortillas. We ordered from the grill - had amazing - and huge - pork chops - my partner... More

The food was good the drinks were great and the atmosphere is awesome. We had a large group of 10 people and our service was fantastic. We never had to wait on drinks everything was great and all the food came at once.

This Mexican eatery is a gem! They make the guacamole tableside and it's really yummy! Go for margaritas and chips with guacamole, or go for a full meal... lunch or dinner is sure to please.

We come here every time we are in NYC, for 20 years, never been disappointed. We have to have the tableside guacamole, it's fabulous. We also always have the filete con hongos ( steak with mushroom sauce) just wonderful. Recently went to the Rosa in Miami Beach and were so disappointed they took it off the menu, big mistake. Glad... More

This "old school" Mexican haunt is renowned for their awesome table side prepared guacamole which is done with an authentic mortal and pestle. Yes it's kitschy, but what a mouthwatering appetizer served with chips and warm corn tortillas. As mains, my Mother had the Pork - huge chunk of meat on the bone served in a delicious brown gravy wrapped... More

Went early on Wednesday after shopping at union square Christmas market. Seated right away as place was empty. Chips and 2 dipping sauces delivered immediately. Very good. I ordered a roasted pork. Meat very tender and moist. Served with beans rice. It didn't have much flavor which was odd considering how well it was prepared. Friend had chicken which turned... More

Unlike its larger and more flashy cousins, this branch of Rosa Mexicano is "cosy" and a nice place for Mexican Food on the Upper Eastside. Either for dinner or after a movie, it fits the bill. And Gluten Free is a big part of what they are selling and if it matters to you, it's a big deal.

Booked this after reading reviews on open table, and we were not disappointed ! Amazing food, we all tried something new and the guacamole starter was just amazing, and we were given the recipe to try this at home. Service was so friendly, we were served by Jamie, who was genuinely lovely. Would love to come back to here one... More
