Our flagship location opened its doors on First Avenue in 1984 and was bestowed with a glowing, two-star review from The New York Times. From the moment you arrive, old world charm permeates your dining experience through authentic Mexican colors and rustic folk art. Traditional amate gods greet you at the front entrance and brightly colored papel picado hangs from the ceiling. Corn tortillas are made on site and an exposition grill further seduces your senses. With its warm ambiance and outstanding cuisine, this Rosa Mexicano location has remained a perennial New York favorite for over 20 years.

My daughter and I ate here a few nights ago on the recommendation of our hotel, and found it to be pretty good.. The tableside guacamole was great, the ceviche very good and the nachos not so great.. Really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. There guacamole is the best we have had. All food is fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We felt we got our monies worth. The portions are big as well. We will return again when in that neighborhood.

This place is almost always packed because it serves excellent, freshly made tableside guacamole and has a great vibe. The food isn't taco/enchillada/tostado typical, though they have versions of all of these, but more refined Mexican food. Prices reflect their vision as well, not cheap though reasonable for what they give you.

There are a few restaurants on every block in NYC so when you walk past one at 9 at night and it is packed --- well maybe something very good is going on inside. We were seated immediately --- there were only two empty tables available and were treated to outstanding service all evening. The restaurant was noisy, but not... More

We went there recently, 4 adults (2 tourists, 2 locals) 2 kids and a toddler. The atmosphere and service were excellent. We had an early resv which works our well with little ones, no wait. We had a perfect table which wasn't too loud or dark so great for conversation. We had the Sangria and guac, both were really good!!... More

We have been here a few times and like to come here whenever we visit the city. They have wonderful Pomegranate Margaritas and the food is always very tasty. We highly recommend the table side Guacamole.

Very busy and active scene.Guacomole made tableside. Traditional fare; enchiladas, fajitas and the like. Try the pork chamorro dish. Margaritas are terrific. Can't go wrong here.

We went to this restaurant because we wanted to try some Mexican food. We ordered Nachos de tres quesos, Salmon poblano, beans and the Pollo pibil. The nacho portion such a big portion that you can share it easily with more persons. I had the salmon and this was very tasteful. The beans were something special; I am still not... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
