Good bagels but service could be friendlier. The goal is to expedite the line (which got really long really fast as soon as we got there on a Sunday morning) and just get the bagels out. My husband and I each had an onion bagel but he had the lox spread and I had the low fat veggie cream cheese.... More

This particular Ess-a-Bagel location seems to have fewer tourists and crowds than the one on 3rd Ave, but the neighbourhood feels a tiny bit sketchy in the early mornings, so consider taking a cab if you wake up at the crack of dawn. Absolutely delicious bagels (the best I've had) that were warm and so very fresh. They offer salmon... More

Never miss it....upon arrival our stop is Ess a Bagel. Long lines, but they move quickly. Huge bagel sandwiches.....of highest quality. Leave room in your suitcase...a must to bring home.

We vowed to get authentic and tasty NY bagels before we left town, and here we did. No more to be aid for those who know what we mean by authentic NY bagels! We took their contact info so we could ship to our midwest location as well!

Busy, noisy, and bustling. Delicious bagels and the black and white cookie we were looking for! Fun little bagel joint.

Mean Mean Mean. I will never visit this place again. Staff is completely rude and the owner must be as well since she sits around watching everything that is going on.

The bagels are huge (I can usually only eat half) but hungry teenagers will love them. The everything bagels are covered - on both sides - with everything. Their muffins are also tasty but get there early as there's usually a line of breakfast eaters.

Since I grew up across the street from this Bagel shop, I can say only one thing; YUM! Even after 20 plus years, the family recipe stays the same. I now live in CA and wish they would open one here. When I visit home my first stop is here for that yummy warm bagel that puts a smile in... More

We visited 2 times during our New York stay. What we ordered and loved: Bagels (so fresh) with a thin layer of plain cream cheese and white fish paste. The white fish did not appeal to me until I tried my husbands. It is delicious!

Why is it impossible to get a good bagel in DC? Such a tragedy. But at least I got my fix at Ess-a-Bagel. The line was long, but moved fast. The bagels and lox are perfect. The tacky 1980s chandeliers make the place seem like my grandmother decorated it, which I love.
