Charming and cozy

Walking by after having dinner nearby, we were entranced by the cozy feel of this place. The lower level was dimly lit, charming and romantic. The top floor has a retractable roof for warm weather enjoyment. We will be back to sample the food for sure!

The restaurant itself is lovely - in an old townhouse with real character. It had a warm, romantic feel. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was not exceptional but was pleasant.

We chanced upon this restaurant when on our short stay in New York, when eating out in SoHo was top of my priorities. They offered us a lovely cosy table in the downstairs bar area (I later learned they have an upstairs dining room, but since we had no reservation we were seating downstairs.) The atmosphere was buzzing and cosy,... More

Finding this restaurant was a little difficult for me. The restaurant is at the corner of 10th Street (at 7th Avenue South) but you have to go down a few steps to enter it. After eating there I was very disappointed with the meal and very surprised that it was given a high food rating of 24 in the Zagat... More

The dining room is on the second floor, the hip bar on the first. Beautiful and comfortable setting with a fireplace that was lighted with a candle. The waiter knew the menu by heart and could advise us on our choices. Appetizers, main and dessert, every dish was delicious. Wine selection from reasonable to pricey.

We have been a group of about 25 celebrating a christmas diner at the bobo. The food was great and the dedicated room atop provided a wonderful atmosphere. The only point I missed was a little more attention on refilling the water glasses.

Looks as though you're heading into a basement dive, but basically it's the entrance to two substantial floors of an old terrace house, furnished appropriately. Sunday brunch was busy but not too crazy. We waited a bit long for the food -- manager extremely apologetic and provided a free drink or dessert as compensation (not necessary, but it was a... More

Located over several floors of a West Village town house Bobo is a characterful yet intimate dining experience. We chose to share several plates and sample the excellent Californian wine and digestif list. In my view a great restaurant treats the vegetable accompaniment as well as the main headliner meat dishes and the sprouting broccoli just knocked us out. The... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
