Fatty Delight

The original of the Fatty empire of restaurants in NYC. We've dined there several times -- always a great combination of flavors, textures, spices and fellow diners. If you like very flavorful - slightly spicy food - you're going to love the Fatty Crab. We checked in "Yelp" and were each given a shot of whiskey with Pickle juice back. Excellent! We took the waiter's recommendation and shared the Chili Crab (you have to crack it yourself - but totally worth it! The Crab comes broken apart... More

We were supposed to eat somewhere else but the place was so full so we went to the Fatty Crab. We took the dumpling, the pork with watermelon and some other vegetables dishes. The dumpling and the pork were sooooo good that I had to come back the following day (before I would return to my home country) to try... More

Wonderful food. We were taken there by Chef when she came off duty elsewhere. Crispy pork and watermelon salad so good we went back for more at lunch two days later. The duck was also excellent. Nice to visit near the High Line and West Village

And a waste of time. My reservation was unknown to the meeter and greeter. Seated right beside the bar and cash register which is where the staff hang about between service. I should have moved The characters at the bar are reminiscent of 1950's films' gangsters and their molls - maybe part of the décor; unpleasant anyway The menu is... More

Taken to this restaurant by friends who live in NY. They had always enjoyed eating there and we were not disappointed. Casual informal restaurant , good food, what more could you want?

Normally you need a reservation for dinner here, but we lucked out on a weekday night and there was one table available for a group. We had the chill crab and the malay fish fry. I would highly recommend both.

Only place in NYC I have had good Singapore style crab and it is worth the occasional wait. The small plates are unusual and great, like the sliders or the pork buns. Rendang was flavorful, but light on the sauce. Tables are a tight squeeze, but warm. Outdoor seating in the summer is more comfortable.

I travel to Singapore every year for work and am addicted to a dish called Chili Crabs. I looked online to see if I could get them here in the City and Fatty Crab was one of 3 places claiming to make the traditional SIngapore dish. I mention this because my entire review is based on this one fact. I... More

If you want to getaway from the city for a meal, fatty crab is the perfect place. Incredible dishes and the ambiance takes you straight to the Caribbean. The ginger with cucumber drink is yummy and refreshing and the mini burgers are incredible.

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
