hot, crisp, spicy, and soo tasty! when you are tight on budget, this is one place in new york that can fill you up without looting your pocket. its pretty crowded so you might have to wait, and the service is also effected this. but an awesome place nonetheless. must visit!

Ate there the other night during a stay in NYC based on TA reviews. The place is very small and has a few outside tables and also a single file line of tables inside. Very noisy had trouble hearing the waitress. Had empanadas which were good, not excellent and fried plantains and guacamole which was very tasty. Open late, we... More

This was an out of the way place the reviews were good on the empanadas. My daughter wanted to try it because she studied in Costa Rica and has also been to Colombia. The waiter, who she thought was Hispanic (and she started speaking Spanish to!) was actually Italian! He was very nice and said he could understand Spanish a... More

We waited for an outside table and it was a wise choice. We order a bunch of empanadas of different kinds. Food was great, all very tasty. On an august evening, it was really enjoyable

We selected Empanada Mama when planning our trip to NYC because we wanted to dine in Hell's Kitchen & experience cuisine unique to our palates. Although the meal was satisfying, from plantain chips & guacamole, to empanadas, including dessert, & arepas, I think we would have enjoyed it more if it had not been at the end of a long,... More

What's with the hype? Empanadas are average at best and I've had soooo much better elsewhere. The lines are long and the order takes just as long. I've tried a variety of empanadas and honestly do not have a favorite between the savory and sweet. The fillings are a bit overcooked, the dough's overcooked, and not fluffy and golden brown... More

My friends and I stopped here for what we hoped would be a quick lunch. It was crowded and so tiny but they were very nice and accommodated us right away by bringing an extra chair over to a table. We were offered plantain chips and guacamole when we sat down and they were delicious. However, the way they were... More

Great little spot in Mid-town, great energy, the place is busy all of the time. The food is outstanding.

A young relative bought me here after a long walk. The empanadas was horrible when I bit into one. It was less meat and more dough. Be prepared for a line wait for your take out order of empanada. Place in twisted brown paper bag and hand to you like they are doing you a favor. Fifteen minutes later a... More

Great food! Fast service! Very friendly servers! We all had a variety of the empanadas and they were all yummy. The different lemonades were good. The guacamole was really yummy with the plantain chips. We are going back tonight for dessert!
