We were lucky to come across Brasserie Ruhlmann during our stay in New York in October. We sat outside for lunch on our first day, in the sunshine, watching the world go by, was very enjoyable, great location, food was good and service was quick. Went back again on our last day, sat inside and had sushi, which was excellent,... More

We really enjoyed the decor and the frenetic New York lunch atmosphere. We overheard lots of snippets of business meetings; talk of clients, meetings, investments.. You know the type of stuff. The food was ok, I had a burger and my wife had some sushi, we had some dessert and some sides. The bill was about $75, which isn't cheap.... More

We come to New York often for business and pleasure and always have good service everywhere we go. We have been to Ruhlmann's in the past and came back because of the panko egg on a frisee salad, which is sublime. However, the gorgeous mosaic tile floor ,the once sumptuous red velvet seats and tilted wall sconces are becoming shabby... More

My wife and I went here for lunch and we really enjoyed the restaurant's decor and food. Both of us had the Burger and Onion soup which was fantastic. My wife was here a previous time with my daughter for lunch and told me all about it and that I had to experience this great restaurant near Rockefeller Center. We... More

Elegant, farm fresh food combinations with excellent service, located at Rockerfeller Center. Researched menus on the internet beforehand, but ended up buying the cookbook because the chef had too many good choices! The pate de foie with walnut marmalade was a lovely combination of buttery softness, crunch and sweetness. The curry dip with the lobster roll was second-to-none. May be... More

This is an upscale restaurant with great service and very good food. Pricey lunch though; 2 bowls soup, 2 (gourmet) ham sandwiches w/ fries and small salad and 2 beers was $106 with tip.

We spotted this restrauant on the way to the hotel. It looked really lovely from the outside (Art Deco) facade and outside seating area . Style of decor continued inside , even in to the toilets, Loads of original features and great atmosphere . Waiting staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. Menu was varied and well priced for NewYork.... More

So just why isn't Ruhlmann five stars? Their prices suggest they are. Their location suggest they are. But with prices and location come expectations. And frankly, it's close but no cigar. Yup they're good but NOT excellent based on the expectations. For the prices (way high but creating expectations) and location (way high but creating expectations) they just don't pull... More
