Great wait staff and owner. Always make you feel as if you are a welcome friend in their home

Food consistently good, simple, honest, more classical but with some innovation. The menu is tight and not overwhelming. The garden area is a treat even in winter.

The only reason I didn't give Tree Bistro 5 stars is we were seated in the back patio area and it is February. Although there were heaters, if you sat close to the heater you were hot, and if you sat closer to the "wall" you were freezing. That being said, I'm glad we stayed. OMG to the truffle cheeseburger!... More

I booked the tree bistro after spotting it on trip advisor. Although the reservation was made approx 10 weeks prior to travelling we were greeted with such a warm welcome as if they had been looking forward to our arrival. The restaurant was right up our street, intimate with atmosphere. The food was outstanding. We declared our starters of French... More

I used to live in the East Village right around the corner from Tree Bistro and it quickly became my favorite and special neighborhood place. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. They have an incredible back garden and, unlike most restaurants with a garden like that, there isn't an hour-long wait to get in and ruin your evening. Instead, the... More

Been living here 10 years and can't think of a better local spot for awesome dinner/drinks for any occasion. If you're in NYC, stop in or you're missing a true gem in the East Village. Great food, fantastic drinks and wine, beautiful atmosphere and service like you've been a regular forever!!

Dining at Tree Bistro is a magical experience at a hidden gem in the East Village, NYC. We used to live in the neighborhood and when we first stumbled upon this restaurant, it shocked us by not only the charming and relaxed ambiance, but the incredible quality of their service and food. The deliciousness of their roasted chicken, served with... More

My wife and I stumbled on this intimate French style Bistro in the East Village a couple of years ago and what a Fabulous Foodie Find it was. Each time we are in the city we now stop in for its unique, persona andl welcoming environment, as well as its reliably fresh, creative and delicious dishes. In a city filled... More

My husband and I visited NYC for a couple days, and had dinner at Tree Bistro on our first night. We sat in the front room which was a much more intimate space than the back garden room. The food was absolutely delicious (My husband had the burger with truffled cheese and I had the chicken which was hands down... More

To be honest it was good but nothing special . Actually we were very disappointed because we initially looked for another restaurant.. we did not know the name but just that there was a tree inside the restaurant. We saw the picture of the restaurant and when we wantwd to.book a table I do not know but fwe were redirected... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
