Great Atmosphere, feels like Europe in the middle of New York!

Booked ahead here after reading great reviews of the place on tripadvisor! And as our trip to New York was for my girlfriends birthday we wanted to guarantee that we had at least one evening planned out! On initial glance you might not really notice the Tree Bistro from the road, but once you go... read more

We came about 40 blocks to eat here, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Started with the tasting board - we had the duck, fried goat cheese and zucchini fritters. Duck and goat cheese were good, zucchini fritters were phenomenal. We had a delicious malbec that went well with everything and was reasonably priced. I had the... More

We enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food a lot at Tree bistro. We were seated at the window table which was lovely on a sunny evening. The garden room was booked for a party but we had a look around before the guests arrived and it's just beautiful. We had salad and crapcake as appetizers followed by the risotto... More

So charming in a funky way. Food was great and the our server (Olivia) was wonderful. Our guest were a little skeptical about the distance from our hotel but once there things totally changed. One of the best meal I've ever had. Well worth the effort to find this location, I'd love to go back on our next visit to... More

Stunnig food from start to finish. My husband and I really enjoyed the ambiance and the level of the service. We will try and make it back again in the future for sure!

Was given an Open Table voucher for Xmas to use on our NY trip. We scanned Trip Advisor and eventually decided on The Tree Bistro. What a good choice we made. The food was excellent, served by lovely staff. On leaving we got chatting to the owner who generously bought us a drink. We ended up staying till after midnight... More

The roast chicken is transcendent as are the creamy bacon peas. The fried oreos are a true extravagance. Tree has an excellent wine list with a generous pour by friendly staff. The back garden is cozy and perfect for special occasions. Charming Irish owner working in a relaxed atmosphere makes you fall in love with the East Village all over... More

We are native New Yorkers, but we often bring our out of town guests here. Tree has that wonderful intimate old world feel in a city that has been taken over by "super power restaurants." The menu takes a sophisticated approach to the classics. I love the calamari with the curry sauce; my husband insists on the truffle fries at... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
