Worth Entering the Museum to Eat Here!

On limited time, my daughter and I went to MOMA, planning to just at least enter the museum shop. But the lady at check-out convinced me to buy a membership (since I would save $50) and go to Café 2 for lunch, which you need to enter through the museum to get into. I liked my lentil soup and mushroom quiche with salad. My wife liked her beets with feta and quiche. The way Cafe 2 is organized is exemplary: service is fast and friendly. The restaurant on the ground floor is better but also a lot more expensive.

A perfect place to have lunch when visiting the MOMA. We came here after not being able to find a place for lunch which didn't require a long wait for a table. Our expectations were not high, but wow were we surprised. We had a really super lunch. The food is cafe bistro modern Italian and really good. We didn't... More

Four lunches in seven days - this place became my mid-town chill-out spot when it just got too crowded and hot outside. The food is consistently good and the service usually OK - although things were a bit slow on one day. The cafe has mostly long table with a few benches at the windows with a street view. There... I though I would have lunch here after the nice reviews - 215pm shouldn't be too busy. Nope - 20 min queue and 20 mins for lunch. Food is average and prices a couple of bucks more. Have a look at my photo to see how busy it is on a Monday afternoon. Have lunch outside and u will thank... More

The 2 in the name indicates that the café is on the second floor. There is often a line to get a seat. If you go early on the lunch period you may not have to wait. The menu is available at the entrance, or it will be given to you not later than just before you are seated. The... More

My son and I were visiting the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and wanted a quick lunch before we began our "art tour". How handy, Café 2 right inside the museum. The menu was varied and interesting; the food was delivered in a timely manner with a smile; the wait-staff were cheerful and efficient; AND - oh, yes... More

While in MOMA, the family and I went to grab a bit to eat at Café 2. While not necessarily a "kid friendly" menu, we were still able to find a few things that they would eat. Although the food was pretty good (The pasta was excellent), we were not able to get the simplest of things. The menu had... More

The reason I mention underrated is because it did not come up on my search for good places to eat in manhattan. This could be because you first have to pay the entrance fee at MOMA to be able to eat here. We ate lunch and it was fantastic. The vanilla cheesecake was probably one of the best cheesecakes I... The Cafe 2 is a great place to eat during your visit to MoMA. The dining area consists of long tables reminiscent of the school cafeteria, but nicer, of course. I was not expecting such amazingly delicious food at a museum cafe. There were many great dishes. Our food was delivered promptly and tasted amazing. Choices included wine and cheese... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
