My brother and I were wandering around looking for a place to eat. The sign for Sangria caught our eye and he said he had been there before and it was amazing. He wasn't lying. The tables are small and it was quite dark, but a very soothing atmosphere. The sangria was perfect on this warm and humid evening, such... More

Good selection of wine, small plates and very romantic. great date place. Back of the bar there are some cozy lounge chairs.. these guys only serve beer and wine only, but if you are bored you can always walk to the next door orient express which has great cocktail selection!

I have dropped into Turks and Frogs since it opened more than a decade ago. It is a charming little wine bar with a small, slightly pricey, but tasty "starters" menu to pair with the wine. They have an extensive wine list and their prices are not outrageous. Not sure what you want, let them guide you. I would highly... More

Feel free to check the place out but know you'll be left to your own devices when ordering. Not much input, or at least nothing useful. And if they're out of the wine you request, you'll likely get a reco that's 3x as much and not nearly as good.

Stumbled upon Turks & Frogs one evening while walking around to the West Village. The staff is awesome and very knowledgeable. It was nice and quiet around 5pm but would be a great date spot.

We had a great evening at Turks & Frogs. It is a little cozy place on a street which is somewhat quiet at night. Atmosphere is very important to me to feel at home, this place is candlelit, intimate and artistic. I liked the Ottoman flavor of the room as much as I enjoyed the mirrors and sumptuous red walls.... We found the cocktail bar a little pretentious and lacking atmosphere but the cocktails were good. Maybe a place to go for a very quiet week night drink. However the wine bar, right next door, was really warm and welcoming. The wine bar staff are really friendly, knowledgeable and unpretentious. We had a fantastic Turkish wine the charming barman recommended.... More

We went into T&F to get a drink and a bite to eat and found a quaint little spot with a nice guy behind the bar and a very dour atmosphere. If you weren't there with a group of friends it was hard to feel a vibe. We were told that it was a Wednesday and it was a but... More

I ordered takeout (was staying at a nearby hotel and did not feel like room service) consisting of the bean soup, tomato and cucumber salad, baked eggplant, and the apricot dessert. Everything arrived timely and was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. The tomato and cucumber salad is absolutely huge. I did not really have room to finish it. It was fresh,... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
