Tomato pizza was good, cookies were awesome. Everything was overpriced. Only 4 or 5 people can sit inside and the guus don't want you to eat sitting on the stairs or sidewalk. You need take away your food if you can't find an empty chair inside.

We just so happened to walk down the street it's on and we saw a line, so we took a peek. It's a tiny place, and the line went quick because it's pretty much order, get your food, and then walk out. We got all 4 cookies, and they were all very good, and big as well.

At the time of my family's visit to NYC in July 2014, Levain Bakery was the #1 ranked "restaurant" in NYC on Tripadvisor [though it's not a restaurant - it's a bakery with no seating]. Because of this #1 ranking, and since it was around the corner from my hotel [Hotel Beacon], we had to visit. Their cookies are really... More

The cookies are good but not great. The chocolate cookies are too raw in the middle. The oatmeal cookies are better because they are not as doughy inside. Very pricey.

Everyone talks about the cookies - they're awesome. They're huge, though, so maybe you want to split one with a friend.

Levain makes the best cookies I've ever had. I now avidly seek copy cat recipes to try and recreate theirs to no avail. You should eat them right away when they give them to you fresh and warm. They get stale in a couple days and simply aren't as good as a fresh warm cookie so treat yourself immediately! My... More

Go early. You may have to wait in line. It is well worth the wait. You can smell the chocolate as you are waiting. It is a real bakery and part of the experience is watching their day to day activities. It is a limited menu, but the selection is more than enough to choose from. I had the chocolate... More

I agree with a previous reviewer that this should not be considered a restaurant. It is a very good bakery, but there are no facilities to eat on site.

Levain has always had great cookies and baked goods, although with a limited selection (4 kinds of cookies and a few kinds of rolls). But the lines have become crazy long, especially on the weekend. It's just not worth it. If you can make it there at odd hours, definitely stop by, but don't endure the lines for just a... More
