Possibly the most indulgent thing you'll ever eat in your life, but life is for living, right? Nothing like we've ever had before. Absolutely delicious and well worth the treck up to the upper west side.

The place is tiny but since it was raining and I came early I was able to get a chair and devour my cookie and hot chocolate while I watch people on the qeueu. I had the chocolate chip walnut cookie and hot chocolate. The cookie was amazing with lots of walnuts and chocolate chips! Yummm! It's a bit pricey... More

Tried to go on the last 2 trips to the UWS but the line was down the block. I found the cookies very rich and loaded with butter, and somewhat pricey. I prefer their scones to cookies. But YES the wait in line is worth it and I will be returning the next trip to NY city.

Could be tricky to find for New York newbies like me - look for a line outside some steps! huge, dense, delicious cookies. Worth queuing up for!

For the last couple of years whenever I visit NY I've got to have some Levain Bakery cookies! I have always had to wait at least 10 minutes in line... these are not healthy cookies at all and at $4 each they are a bit expensive... but they are definitely worth it!! I have tried each, as well as the... More

There are no words to describe this place other than UHHHMAZING. I've tried all of their cookies, but yesterday I went for the chocolate chip walnut cookie. yum. Soft inside and oozing chocolate chips. Sweet, but not too sweet. This place is a must try.

We travelled to the upper west side the first day of our vist to N.Y just to buy cookies at Levain Bakery. Be aware that the bakery is not easy to find (its in a basement with access through a small stair) unless there is a que outside (it was both times we visited). The cookies were rich, heavy and... My sister brought this home last Christmas and I have been craving them ever since. They are over the top rich and the perfect moist chewy texture. Wish they were a bit less expensive but at $4 a cookie I guess my waist will be thanking me later.

A local friend told me about Levain during my first trip to NY. I'm so glad I took her up on her recommendation! I had the chocolate chip walnut cookie and it was DEVINE! Warm, gooey, and huge. I went out of my way to go to this cute little basement bakery and I would do it again in a... More
